Majesty Choir will soon begin rehearsals for

the Easter Cantata, The Rose of Calvary and
the members would like to invite YOU to join
them in this important ministry. Easter comes
early this year, so our first rehearsal will be
Thursday, Feb. 4. A change in rehearsal
schedule was suggested last fall, so we are
switching times. Choir will rehearse Sunday
music from 6:30 - 7:15pm and rehearse the
music for the cantata afterward from
7:25 - 8pm. If Thursdays dont fit your
schedule, we will also rehearse on Sunday
mornings between services (9:50ish to
10:50ish am). If you like to sing, if you have
the gift of music, please give prayerful
consideration to joining us!

The largest Groundhog Day (Feb. 2) celebration is held in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where
crowds as large as 40,000 have gathered to celebrate the holiday since at least 1886.
If Candlemas be fair and bright, winter has another flight.
If Candlemas brings clouds and rain, winter will not come again.

PERSONAL CARE KITS

When LWR distributes Personal Care Kits, its
often to people who have lost everything. In
the wake of an earthquake, or having fled from
violence as their homes were overtaken, they
clasp a towel from a faraway place, with a bar
of soap, a toothbrushand washing up, they
know that they have not been forsaken by the
world.
The very simple gesture of giving a Personal
Care Kit can give someone the nudge to start
anew, starting with a bath. You can share
Gods grace and love by providing that simple
comfort.

What to Include:
One light-weight bath-size towel
(between 20"40" & 52"27"), dark color
recommended
Two or three bath-size bars of soap
equaling up to 8-9 oz, any brand, in
original wrapping
One adult-size toothbrush in its original
packaging*
One sturdy comb, remove packaging
One metal nail clippers (attached file
optional), remove packaging
Wrap all the items in the towel and tie securely
with ribbons or yarn
NOTE: Toothbrush multi-packs may be
used by sealing an individual toothbrush in
a business-size envelope; no plastic bags
or wrap
Do not add other items or leave out any of
the items listed. All items should be new
and in good condition. Do not enclose the
Kit or any of its contents in plastic bags.
Please give new items only, except where
otherwise noted
Please do not donate items with any
religious symbols, messages or your
congregations name.
Please do not donate any items decorated
with a U.S. flag, patriotic or military
symbols, or references to the armed
forces, including camouflage.

the Nazareth Room, and conclude at
approximately 10:45 AM. Please plan to attend
all three classes to take part in the full
St. John's 101 experience!

JANUARY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

On December 11, 1966, the first worship
service was held at this church at 13th and
Benjamin. The St. Johns Council approved a
celebration of this event at their January 20th
meeting. On Sunday, December 11, 2016 - exactly
50 years later - St. Johns will plan recognition of
this important event and look forward to everyone
being present to participate. Save the date!
The Council heard about the progress of our
sound system upgrade and the need for replacing
several wireless microphones. We hope to have the
project completed prior to Easter. We look forward
to this improvement to the worship experience.
The roster of candidates for the various
elections to be held during the Annual Meeting was
reviewed. Final reports from the Ministry
Committees will be included in the report packet as
well as the 2013 and 2014 Audit Reports. The
Council celebrated the many ways St. Johns
served the community and the greater church this
past year.
A complete copy of the minutes is available by
mail or email by contacting the church office.
