OBJECTIVES

DRAWING AND PRINTING THE ELECTRICAL WIRING DIGRAMS

:

Students will be able to:

1. Draw accurate electric wiring diagram circuit schematics.

2. Know the meaning of blueprint drawing.
3. Print the electric wiring diagram schematics correctly using the appropriate paper size and
paper orientation.
LIST OF EQUIPMENT :
Desktop computer/ laptop
AutoCAD software
THEORY

An electrical wiring drawing, a type of technical drawing shows information about power, lighting
and communication for engineering or architectural project. A complete set of working drawings for
the average electrical system in large project usually consists of:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

A plot plan showing the buildings location and outside electrical wiring
Floor plans showing the location of electrical systems on every floor.
Power-riser diagrams showing panel boards.
Control wiring diagrams.
Schedule and other information in combination with construction drawings.

Electrical drafters prepare wiring and layout diagrams used by workers who erect, install, and
repair electrical equipment and wiring in communication centers, power plants, electrical
distribution systems and buildings.
Layers are the equivalent of the overlay used in paper-based drafting. They are the primary
organizational tool in Autocad, and use them to group information by function and to enforce line
type, color and other standard. By creating layers, you can associate similar type of object by
assigning them to same layer.

PROCEDURES :
1. Start AutoCAD setting to begin a new drawing;
2. Draw the Electric Wiring Circuit Diagram given in figure 6.0 and have your lecture verify the

drawing.

3. Create different Layer for text and line for this Wiring Circuit Diagram.

To Create Layers:

From the Format menu, choose Layer. (Layer properties manager will appear)

New, then type layer name (example: Line, text)

Setting color and line types for your drawing, refer figure 6.0
Choose OK.

Question :
1. Why do we need to print the drawing layout?

Discussion :

2. How to set the printer to A3 paper size?

3. Describe a blueprint layout of an electrical wiring diagram?
