Through the experiences of myself and others in the research work for this
book it has been proved that with the use of a Master Word which is associated
with a particular response, we can transform our responses and therefore
ourselves.
This book is about you and what you are. You are basically a mind to which
is attached a physical body.
The mind and body interact but the mind is what we truly are. Within that
mind are responses and reactions which are the results of our conditioning
and experiences. Hence our patterns of behaviour, which to a greater degree,
are predictable.
Observe the idiosyncrasies of your walk, the way you negotiate stairs, the
countless mannerisms that are just you.
Every response and reaction begins in the mind and these can be changed
if you wish. Master Words can produce a new or changed attitude from which
emerges an emotion or feeling that is instrumental in transforming those
responses and reactions. This is in effect the transformation of you and your
life.
Master Words will invoke the right attitude and feeling for action towards
what you desire.
CHAPTER ONE
FROM BOARDROOM TO DISCOVERY
This book was born out of a rather unpleasant experience. I as a career girl
in my mid-thirties was called to a board meeting of a large engineering company
I worked for in my native county of Somerset in the United Kingdom. I was a
member of a design team and I had been summoned to elucidate on certain
plans for the design team in a rather large project which involved considerable
capital investment.
Whilst on the subject of capital investment the atmosphere became rather
tense and two members of the Board became rather agitated regarding the
expenditure allocated in favour of the design team and its department. A heated
discussion escalated into virtually a slanging match and one member of the
Board who appeared to receive more than his share of criticism seemed to
remain completely undisturbed by the whole episode. When I commented on
this later in the day this gentleman told me that in such circumstances when
he felt anger and resentment rising within him he always hummed quietly
within himself that lovely melody Greensleeves . My first reaction to this was
the inclination to start laughing but as the gentleman in question was obviously
serious I resisted the urge. He went on to tell me that in his younger days he
often gave vent to feelings of anger and frustration, only to regret it later realising
that by not controlling his emotions he worsened the situation in which he was
involved and also harmed himself with tension and stress.
have on our emotions and minds. Beale particularly mentioned the responsive
effect these Master Words, particularly those with a mystic feel about them,
have on our moods and feelings.
Beale claimed these words transported our being and consciousness from
one state to another and if this was so I could see many immediate advantages.
At that particular time I was experiencing marital problems which were
depressive to say the least, and on reflection was looking for something to keep
me going. With my changing moods and depressions I decided to research
the claims of William Beale and experiment with various words and analyse
their effects.
M A N Y SURPRISING THINGS
This research brought me into contact with many people who revealed many
surprising things about these Master Words and their consequential effect
upon those using them. My research went far beyond the words themselves.
I studied why we are what we are and why we seem intent on arousing conflict
within ourselves. Why we are bent on making ourselves and those around
us suffer.
My mind constantly recalled the board meeting incident where one indivi
dual remained calm and composed amid the fracas of the meeting simply by
holding or focusing his mind onto a melodic piece of music.
When I discovered the claims of an author that a single word can have the
same effect I was, in the light of my own experiences, more than interested.
INITIAL DOUBTS
To say that I was sceptical at the outset of my research would be an under
statement. To believe that just one word could transform ones inner feelings
seemed hardly credible. The first glimmer of its possibility came when I was
studying a report on meditation in which it suggested to the meditator that
one simple and effective form of meditation was to meditate upon a single
word. This particular word was to be personally chosen by the meditator and
was to have some profound and meaningful significance about it. This report
continued and enlarged on how one could select their word.
I began to see the possibility of that I wished to believe but there were still
deep reservations within me. After all, to meditate upon a word seated com
fortably in serene circumstances was a far cry from inwardly uttering a word
to oneself during one of any number of diverse situations you can find yourself
involved in.
My reservations drove me to question yet again why we found ourselves
in situations where we experienced the need to manufacture a state of being
4
contrary to how we really felt in that situation. Our gentleman at the board
meeting probably feit like giving his verbal assailants a good old-fashioned
punch on the nose but he didnt for the reasons stated earlier. In such a
situation it would take most people a lot of conscious effort to control them
selves. The very thought that a single word could do that motivated me on to
the exploration of the many segments within us that makes us what we are.
REINCARNATION?
I studied some work by Krishnamurti, who placed much emphasis on our con
ditioning. During my quest to glean more information on this I began to read
about the theory of Reincarnation, whereby our conditioning is not only drawn
from this lifetime but from previous lifetimes also. Therefore, was I to conclude
that whatever we are is the result of this and previous lifetimes conditioning?
The deeper I thought about it the more I was convinced of its probability.
What if the reincarnation theory was wrong? It matters very little for the
conditioning we assimilate is evident in many instances. Many traits are carried
over from our childhood, where they were implanted by our parents, well into
our adulthood and sometimes continue for our entire lifetime.
A simple example would be of a child being stringently conditioned/
disciplined to say please and thank you. Unless there is a reformatory
process of some nature this child will remain well mannered, as far as please
and thank you are concerned for the rest of its life.
It seemed to me that one could alter ones reaction to any situation once
the method or means had been discovered.
On one hand I had my own eye witness account of someone changing
his normal (?) reaction to a given set of circumstances by humming silently
a melodic piece of music. On the other hand I had numerous personal
experiences related to me whilst researching the effect of Master Words over
various reactions prompted by day-to-day living situations and experiences.
PROFOUND DISCOVERY
I decided to conduct several personal experiments with Master Words all of
which proved to be extremely successful with one exception, and on that
occasion I made a profound discovery which led to an even more effective
use of Master Words. I will tell you of this discovery in Chapter Five.
CHAPTER TWO
OUR IDEAL STATE OF BEING
With my research behind me and the positive knowledge that Master Word
power definitely works I was inclined to ask myself where to now?
I had researched the authenticity of author William Beales claims and found
from many friends, relatives and mere acquaintances who kindly experimented
with these Master Words that his claims were absolutely true. Not only that
but a wealth of other information also became available through these many
contacts.
Where to now? was partially answered by one of my contacts who empha
sised his concern as to the use to which one would put Master Word power.
I acknowledged his concern and told him I was also pondering the best
possible uses for it. This man then told me that his Yoga Instructor had once
told him that the nearest any of us could get to genius was through total com
bined concentration and relaxation. I considered this statement later for some
6
considerable time, the more I dwelt on it the more I could see the truth of it.
The more we are mentally and physically harmoniously integrated the more
meaningful and fruitful are our lives. A life in which none of our energies are
wasted with inner conflict and disjointed efforts to make spiritual and material
advancements. Once we had reached this state of being our aim should be
to make it a constant experience, rather than an intermittent state that ebbs
and flows as the tide.
suddenly returned. This profusion of the need to create was so great it com
pletely absorbed her total being for days and the family situation, whilst still
active, once more became a part, albeit unpleasant, of her life rather than an
all-consuming situation that affected every aspect of her total being.
Believe me, through my own experiences this question will raise many more,
e.g.:
Will I like the new me?
Will my friends and loved ones like any change?
Will friends and loved ones note the change and refer to it? If they do what
do I say?
What if the result of any change is not what I envisaged?
Might I find change will bring side effects?
Will I remain the real me despite any changes?"
Will any change possibly mean a change of attitude towards friends and
loved ones?
These are just a sample of the many questions one asks oneself and if you
are not careful you will, through these questions, sway your desire for any
change to a negative attitude that results in no action.
CHAPTER THREE
YOU ARE YOUR CONDITIONING
AND EXPERIENCES
I open this chapter with a plea from the heart! Never undersell, belittle yourself
or experience guilt and blame for being what you are.
As I stated earlier you are as your conditioning assimilated in this and maybe
previous lives. Do not feel guilty, simply do something about the situation if
you are not happy with it! The fact that you are reading this book indicates
a step in the right direction. You are seeking to improve yourself and your
circumstances.
Your conditioning, particularly your early life conditioning makes you what
you are! That conditioning was not of your own choice or making.
Accept that, see it clearly, you are what you are and you now wish to change
the you that your conditioning and experiences have moulded together.
9
FOOLHARDY SCHOOLGIRL
I can remember as a schoolgirl going to the local swimming baths and being
prompted by others to climb the high-diving board. I, not wishing to appear
cowardly, which in fact I was, acted out the role of a brave schoolgirl diving
from the top board. It was not an act of courage or bravery for inwardly I was
petrified. With knees knocking and stomach behaving like a cement mixer it
was more a case of foolhardiness rather than bravery.
I have not ventured anywhere near a diving board since. My fear inwardly
was intense and would be to this day if I attempted the same thing again.
I digress merely to illustrate that we can gloss over fear on occasions but
it does not remove or lessen it.
The fears and insecurities that become apparent in our questions amount
to Will it hurt? . My answer to that is No, if you are truly seeking to improve
yourself and your circumstances, for that is your divine right to spiritual and
material advancement.
Let us take each question from the small sample given earlier and answer
them.
Q. Will I like the new me?
A Whatever you have seen fit to change must be something you dislike or
consider needs to be changed. Providing you have this right in all respects,
there is no problem. Remember we are not talking of a total transformation,
rather a reformation of a segment that is just one of a number that is the
whole.
Q. Will my friends and loved ones like any change?
A I have mentioned the personal responsibility each of us hold to ourselves
and the Creator. We must honour that responsibility irrespective of anyone
eises likes and dislikes. Exercise a positive attitude that if the change
improves one, friends and loved ones will like and love us even more.
10
Q. Will friends and loved ones note the change and refer to it? If they do what
do I say?
A. We are all sensitive to change particularly that which affects us personally.
Whilst the change within us may seem quite dramatic it may be hardly
perceivable to others. Whatever we may feel, people are always more
interested in themselves than others. Should anyone make reference to
any change, just laugh or smile avoiding comment or discussion. Changes
or reformatory processes function internally and therefore will not manifest
externally to the degree we are sensitive to, or imagine.
Q. What if the result of any change is not what I envisaged?
A. Well, it depends on what we expected as a change. There may well be
results that do not comply with our expectations. Firstly, one should ask if
the result is effective to the point of being acceptable and satisfactory. If it
is, all is well, if not, one should analyse the effect desired and the efficacy
of the Master Word.
Q. Might I find change will bring side effects?
A. I can only stress that any change towards the improvement of ones own
being and circumstances can only be good as I assume that is the effect
desired. Any side effects this brings with it can only be good also.
CHAPTER FOUR
OUR LIFE AND WHAT IT IS
As we express ourselves, as our conditioning and experiences, any changes
we desire must be made at the point where that conditioning and those
experiences react to our mode of day-to-day living.
We may find in certain situations we over or under react and by doing so
we create yet another situation which we dislike and disapprove of. On
reflection, are we not back to the beginning of this book with our gentleman
in the boardroom who nullified any reaction to his critics by silently humming
Greensleeves?
'
I have quite recently read a book that dealt only with the here and now and
our reactions to it. This book advocated acceptance of the here and now by
lessening our reactions. It suggested we could sail smoothly through life by
not under or over reacting so much, if at all. This is what we are trying to achieve
and indeed will with less conscious effort, with our Master Words.
Our aim is to reform/alter our responses to certain situations that at their
worst hurt us and at their best disturb us slightly.
To do this we must observe ourselves and our reactions in given situations.
Once we have detected an over/under reaction we must consider erasure of
that response by replacing it with what we consider to be the correct reaction
for us in the circumstances. That reaction being one that makes for selfimprovement and a better here and now. If we are to simply define our lives
as a series of here and now experiences that is all we have to be concerned
about, the only thing that exists, what we are, where we are and what we are
doing. That which is our life now!
It is the quality of our life and particularly the reactions to that life that we
are concerned with. Everything we experience within ourselves, emotions and
pure reactions, together with our external experiences that make us what we
are. If we are to change what we are we must look at our reactions to that we
are experiencing - life!
down to the nitty gritty of our real and true selves. These unreal insincere
trappings of life imprison us with their fatal charm, fatal being the operative
word, for these trappings hide and shield our true selves from our endeavours
to expose that we have never seen and truly do not know.
What we do know is what we feel and if that hurts we do not wish to feel
it again. There are many other feelings and reactions we dislike because they
make us feel uncomfortable and therefore we do not wish to experience them.
Some of these feelings and reactions may be very necessary for us and in
some cases unavoidable, but what of our reactions that are avoidable and
only recur because we allow them to? These can be changed by substituting
one reaction for another.

CHAPTER FIVE
HOW OUR MASTER WORDS WORK
AND TO WHAT EFFECT
Before we explore our Master Words and how they work let us spend a little
time on how we are affected by external agencies. Colour affects us greatly
and this knowledge is being used more widely from doctors and dentists
to shops and offices all for different reasons but with people very much in
mind.
Doctors and dentists wish to relax their patients and therefore colours that
induce relaxation are used. Blue is a colour used a lot for relaxing and also
healing ones mind and body.
14
Shops use colours that are inviting and also relaxing for obvious reasons
- we tend to spend more when we are relaxed.
Offices are often decorated with light, bright colours so we may effect our
work more efficiently.
Music also affects us in different ways. Supermarkets use it almost
continuously, again to relax us and loosen our purse strings.
Certain tunes and pieces of music can bring us a recall of specific events
and periods of time in our lives. Even now I hear pop music that was popular
when in my teens and on hearing this music I instantly recall my teenage days
associated with that tune, in fact there are many periods in my life to which I
can link a song or piece of music.
I was told by several people in my research work for this book that their
sense of smell recalled memories.
TRIGGERING EFFECTS
From these informative notes from my research one can see the triggering
effect colour, music and our sense of smell has upon us. There are no doubt
other agencies that trigger memories whereby we relive former experiences.
Perhaps a particular view or scene reminds us of one very much like it and we
are reminded of happy occasions in connection with that view or scene. This
of course cannot happen until we see the place that reminds us of our former
happiness.
With our Master Words it is entirely different in the respect that we do not
have to see a certain colour, hear a particular song or experience a fragrance
to alter our state of consciousness. We carry our Master Words with us all
the time and use them at the appropriate time and occasion. If we wish to alter
our reaction to a set of circumstances we encounter in our life we just focus
on the appropriate Master Word to change our responses.
15
M Y PROFOUND DISCOVERY
You may recall in Chapter One I made mention of a profound discovery during
my research and experiments with Master Words. This discovery was insti
gated by my own thoughts on what if one is not aware of how it feels to be
totally relaxed or whatever response is required for any given situation. I
thought about this deeply and carried out various experiments involving myself
and several friends.
One particular friend admitted she, as far as she knew, could not fully relax
mentally or physically. I arranged for her to have private Yoga lessons with
an excellent Yoga instructor I know who would concentrate on mental and
physical relaxation for this pupil.
After a few weeks my friend reported to me that she was experiencing total
mental and physical relaxation, not only in her Yoga classes but also at other
times when she consciously attempted to realise that state of being.
I then discussed a Master Word for this friend. It would be a personalised
Master Word that would associate itself with the new-found state of
relaxation. After a short discussion a word was decided on, it was to be
floating. We also discovered that if the Master Word or Words were uttered
to oneself in a drawn out manner, it was more effective, it was given a
hypnotic quality that bordered on the mystic. Therefore the Master Word
floating was to be uttered so F-L-O-A-T-l-N-G. My friend the willing and
helpful guinea pig told me that after just one session in which she totally
relaxed and at the same time uttered her personal Master Word to establish
association, she has never needed to indulge in any prolonged conscious effort
to effect total relaxation. She is to this day still using the same word to very
good effect.
16
BUILD UP A REPERTOIRE
You can if you wish, do as I did, build up a repertoire of Master Words and
from time to time exercise those words with their associated responses/
emotions.
Up to this point we have only been concerned with promoting certain
responses/reactions/emotions but Master Words can activate much more
than that.
A composed, tranquil, relaxed mind and body, with the mind in a fairly deep
state of concentration which has been brought about by Master Words can
by triggering the creative mind, produce anything we desire. Money, health,
people, riches of all kinds, peace of mind, virtually anything in fact. These can
all be promoted initially by our Master Words.
You will with your ever changing responses, emotions and moods need
to use your Master Words often, in accordance with our inner changes
and conflict. This see-saw effect is due again to our conditioning and the
responses/emotion emerging from that conditioning.
Our optim istic responses tend to believe a certain happy event or
happening will be so, then almost without any warning another response may
emerge and pull us towards the opposite view of the situation.
In this context most of us find happiness is a fleeting experience, flitting
in and out of our consciousness with our differing responses to life. I am sure
most of us would wish to experience a more constant state of happiness, again
Master Words can help to promote this.
17
CHAPTER SIX
THE FIRST STAGE OF YOUR
SELF-DEVELOPMENT
Back in Chapter Four I referred to our reactions and reformed reactions. Most
of those reactions were derived from our emotions. To free ourselves of inner
conflict and strife we must allow our positive emotions full reign and expression.
Our positive and negative emotions cannot reign or be active at the same time,
it has to be one or the other, positive or negative.
In order to allow our positive emotions to dominate our negative forces we
must develop the habit of activating positive emotions constantly with the help
of Master Words.
or emotion that can then communicate with the universal mind via our mind
power. We can convey to this provider of our desires whatever we wish.
Therefore our first stage is to achieve a state of being whereby we can
express ourselves at our maximum efficiency. That state is total physical
relaxation allied to total mental relaxation and concentration. This state alone
will give us the fabulous reward of operating within the here and now without
any inner conflict or distractions. Also it is a wonderful basic sense of uncom
plicated being from which we can add so many wonderful things to our lives.
Before we launch ourselves into the Master Words I must explain that the
words I give are Master Words that have worked for me personally or other
people. You may find it more fun to think of your own personal Master Words
once you have the feel of how it all works. If you do this, then your Master
Words are truly personalised and tailored for you. I suggest that if you do
concoct your own Master Words you do not reveal them to anyone else. For
they are your own trigger words that activate your responses and emotions,
a very private and personal matter.
CHAPTER SEVEN
OUR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH
The aspect of our life being covered in this chapter is our mental and physical
health. It must rate very high in our priorities because it is irreplaceable.
Therefore let us look at this valuable possession and what contributes to its
continuing good condition and also its decline.
Of course our mental and physical health are inter-related. One affects the
other whatever its condition.
Our emotions affect us greatly, not only mentally but physically too. A simple
example is where one is under constant tension and pressure. In those
conditions one can be continually tired and physically run down.
20
The worst kind of tiredness is mental tiredness. For in this condition you
are both mentally and physically tired. To be just physically tired still leaves
one with a certain amount of mental energy and willpower. Recall any Oxford
and Cambridge boat race you may have seen. The winning crew although
physically tired never look to be as tired as the beaten crew because, mentally,
with their victory, they are buoyant and still appear to have energy to spare.
The losing crew are in fact as losers beaten mentally and physically therefore
totally drained of energy.
We can therefore see how our emotions affect us mentally and physically.
In Chapter Four I did list a few negative emotions and responses together
with the responses they should be replaced with by the use of Master Words.
I believe it would be in our interests if we looked at some of the positive and
negative emotions that affect our health in various ways.
The most powerful positive emotions that can be activated by Master
Words are love, faith, desire, hope and enthusiasm.
- S-U-B-S-l-D-E

- G-U-l-D-E
I saw him on several occasions afterwards and he was very much improved
mentally and physically. Headaches had disappeared, he was eating and
sleeping much better, and his attitude towards life had become more positive.
This example of a young mans experiences illustrates the power of negative
emotions and the way they can deplete our mental and physical health.
I would suggest after exercising your powers of relaxation and concentra
tion through Master Words you then promote constant good health. You are
already well on the way with your relaxation and concentration. Just add to
those powers the feeling/emotion of vibrant wholesome health and associate
with this feeling/emotion a Master Word that will recall that emotion for you
when required. The Master Word for vibrant wholesome health is:
R-E-N-E-W
Before I close this chapter I will remind you of the substance we are
surrounded by in some form or other, that is energy, without which we cannot
live. The Master Word for energy is:
P-E-R-P-E-T-U-A-L
A Master Word will change our whole attitude which in turn promotes the
desired emotion that communicates with the universal mind.
CHAPTER EIGHT
HOW TO BRING MONEY AND RICHES
INTO YOUR LIFE
The sequence of events instigated by a Master Word now becomes
increasingly clear.
A Master Word promotes or changes an attitude or response, from which
emerges an emotion orfeeling which, in turn, communicates with the universal
mind.
23
It is said that like attracts like. Also, think lucky and you will be so! We can
now begin to see how these may be so.
This is surely what is meant by the adage We are what we think. A thought
or attitude promotes an emotion which conveys to the universal mind a
desire.
I do not at this point wish to dwell too much on the subject of luck because
I wish to cover that subject in a later chapter. But to illustrate the point I recall
an occasion when I was with a group of people and the subject of luck came
under discussion. We eventually discussed lucky charms and we decided to
declare our own particular lucky mascot. All sorts of charms and lucky items
appeared from handbags, etc. As we displayed our good luck omens on the
table before us there was one notable exception. Notable because this
particular lady was considered to be extremely lucky in raffles, tombolas, etc.
When we voiced our surprise she calmly replied that whilst we could not see
her lucky charm, she always displayed it!! It was she told us, her LUCKY
ATTITUDE!!
I can now, all these years later, appreciate what she meant! Her attitude
was one of constant luck and this attitude manifested an emotion which
conveyed to the universal mind this ladys wishes. She was what she thought,
lucky.
This is the principle involved with money and material possessions which
I intend to cover in the remainder of this chapter.
If you ever come into contact with someone who is rich, they have generally
speaking, a nice relaxed, confident, secure attitude towards their life and
riches. It is this attitude and consequently feeling/emotion that you must
capture or recapture to inform the universal mind of your desires for money
and material possessions. Once you have captured that feeling/emotion and
associated it with a Master Word, your money consciousness can then be
brought into being. That consciousness then relays to the universal mind your
wants.
A further aid to the manifestation of the required emotion is a deep feeling,
perhaps better described as an intense yearning, for whatever you desire.
25
CHAPTER NINE
ALLOW YOUR CREATIVITY TO FLOW
To be able to express yourself in a creative way is a wonderful gift and blessing.
This creativity may take the form of painting, poetry, pottery, music, gardening
or house building.
If you are in any way responsible for anything creative then count your
blessings, for not only are you fulfilled in whatever function your creative activity
takes but also it is a natural outlet for your emotions.
AVOID FRUSTRATIONS
A cousin of mine has for many years run a small business assembling small
parts for kitchen equipment. He has often said that the work drives him mad
with sheer repetition and monotony - in fact he has said he would not do this
work as an employee. The only reason he continues is because it is his own
business. Through the years he has had many minor illnesses of psycho
somatic origin. This is a situation where your emotions are frustrated and
unexpressed (unused) and through this situation appears some physical
evidence of what is happening within that person.
In my cousins case it was a series of minor illnesses including severe
migraine, shingles, and several bouts of deep depression.
About five years ago he was introduced to the art of calligraphy (penman
ship) by a friend of his and he now spends much of his spare time reproducing
his favourite poetry in this way. The significant outcome of this is that he has
not suffered any illness which could be said to be of psychosomatic nature.
we all expressed our views differently. From the very next lesson onwards there
was a vast difference in the art student. She expressed herself on canvas as
she did in life, fully and expansively. Whilst her art was never of the highest
quality, albeit very good, this student eventually expressed herself just as she
was.
How many of us can really say truthfully that we express ourselves as we
truly are? Whilst we are a series of experiences and responses there are many
com plexities and inhibitions intermingled with those experiences and
responses. Therefore anything that helps us to reveal our true selves is a major
step towards our true and ultimate expression.
28
CHAPTER TEN
THE POWER OF LOVE
Love is the most powerful emotion and power we possess, it is also a very
grossly over used word particularly within books, songs, films and that
detestable ploy, emotional blackmail.
In fact it is so over used that to most people it means very little. Some
people use this word love or luv as a form of address to another person.
Certainly books and songs use it abundantly in their titles and contents,
possibly because of its emotive powerthat will probably result in us (the buying
public) purchasing the book, record or seeing the film.
Emotional blackmail, whether used by children, lovers, rejected or other
wise, and just plain immature adults is always more potent when love is
mentioned and included in its content. There is no doubt we are very much
conditioned by the word and subject, love.
How many times have you seen a little boy or girl manipulate their parents
simply by saying I love you, Mummy/Daddy?
The power of this word and emotion is undoubted. Many heroes are
motivated by this emotion and it can influence us to behave both irrationally
and selflessly.
In the light of what we know about this emotion and its power we should
treat it with some respect as we would any other powerful force. This is not
to say it is harmful or bad, quite the contrary when it is put to good use it can
achieve miracles and great works, from art and literature to wonderful personal
feats.
POWER OF ATTRACTION
To those who find their lives are devoid of this power, love, one has to remember
that in order to receive, you have to give. It is simply a matter of magnetism
and attraction.
We are now of course referring to love in terms of relating to another person
from whom you wish to be shown love in whatever form you desire.
We are at this point beyond the stage of physical attraction. Compared with
true love physical magnetism and attraction are merely preambles. Therefore,
being beyond that, the physical is out of the way, you are now faced with the
emotion of love and that can attract love from others. In order to do that you
have to show that emotion yourself, so that the same emotion can respond from
another. Also to communicate with the universal mind concerning your desires.
29
CHAPTER ELEVEN
LIVE WITHOUT FEAR
The most negative emotion of all that is a constant companion to all our
problems is FEAR.
It is the enemy within us all, destructive in the extreme, constantly gnawing
away at our confidence and undermining our mental and physical health, if
we allow it to. This emotion creates more havoc in our lives, more mental and
physical illness and disease than the remaining causes collectively.
30
Fear can hinder and block anything we desire, from our spiritual and material
growth to the simple day-to-day tasks we perform.
If we allow any of our fears to dominate us then we become unbalanced
and our mental and physical health breaks down from this dominance and
pressure.
Therefore to rid ourselves of this destructive and negative force even by a
minimal degree can only be to our advantage. To free ourselves completely
would be heaven on earth with our newly found expression of faith and belief
in ourselves and that which created us.
How is it possible to obtain freedom from fear and live our lives in such a
manner?
CHAPTER TWELVE
MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK
In Chapter Eight I referred to a certain lady who always displayed her lucky
charm, her attitude!
I could, apart from giving you Master Words for luck, close this chapter right
now. For that word attitude houses everything there is to know about luck.
You may speak of lucky numbers, gambling systems, being in the right
place at the right time, etc., but your attitude is the one ingredient which is so
vital to this subject.
Having established the importance of ones attitude let us explore other
relevant factors concerning luck.
Throughout this book I have stressed that our attitudes, from which feelings/
emotions are derived, are an important link in the use of Master Words.
Beyond this indisputable fact I find that within certain experiences we live
through, our attitudes take on greater importance. The question of luck is one
and money is another. Whilst attraction is a very active requirement for both
of these things it goes deeper than that, because the manifestation of all that
we desire through the medium of luck or chance involves the added dimension
of competition: more than one person desiring the one prize, competing for
all manner of things, sporting feats, jobs, men, women, etc.
Money involves competition also, as it has a limiting factor placed on it.
Because of this the power of attraction through our attitude is vital to the end
result.
35
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
GIVE YOURSELF THE POWER
OF PROTECTION
In the last chapter we concerned ourselves with good luck and how we
can attract it. It was also explained how we can inadvertently attract bad
luck. On this premise we can bring into our lives many other undesirable
events.
From this you can see that the first vital step you take in order to protect
yourself and your property from any harm, whether it be from psychic or
physical attack, is to refrain from wishing or bringing it upon yourself.
To give anything credibility by thinking it possible will obviously give it power
or increased power if it already exists in any form. This is how it is with anything,
negative or positive. As we do not wish for any negative happening we cancel
out any credibility it may have by not thinking it possible or better still not
thinking about it at all.
Psychic attack on another person can be and is carried out. Probably much
more than we realise. There are those who use their psychic power and energy
for this kind of thing, as another would use their physical power to attack
people and property.
Therefore if you wish to protect yourself, your loved ones and your property
it can be achieved with the use of Master Words.
To refresh your memory as to how this can be done, just recall that with
the positive use of our emotions we are communicating with the universal
mind, that which is responsible for the plan of life within which we all exist.
Our emotions and thoughts are a true universal language. It is said that at our
higher levels and dimensions of existence emotions and thoughts are the only
communication. One can see, even at our level, the advantages of this fast,
uncomplicated true form of communication.
It is in this way we, with our Master Words, inform the universal mind of
our desires. As we are now concerned with the protection of ourselves and
our property we therefore tell this enormous power of our wants.
I know of some who, as an additional aid to their Master Words and
emotions, visualise themselves, their loved ones, and property, surrounded by
a white protective layer of energy. You can also do this if you wish in order to
capture the feeling of protection so you may associate it with your Master
Word.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN
OUR PERSONAL POWER
The ability to do or act, is to have power within the circumstances you are
operating and experiencing.
The level of power depends upon the authority you have in those
circumstances.
Some people can exercise their power naturally and easily, for that is how
they express themselves. Others are embarrassed with the authority to
exercise power, they are too self-conscious of the fact and it is difficult for
them to express themselves with this authority and power. Nevertheless we
all have to exercise power in our lives in some form, if only for our own
protection.
Apart from any given power by an employer, local or national government,
organisation or society we need, as individuals, to exercise our own power for,
and what is right, in the many differing circumstances of our lives, e.g.:
GIVEN POWER
One can see by these illustrations the complexities of power you can
become involved with, and by this you need to be able to exercise any given
or rightful power wherever the occasion arises.
This of course not only involves having the ability to perceive the situation
with clarity but it demands courage, confidence and good expression of
yourself in speech and manner.
NECESSARY INGREDIENTS
Some people do not stand up for themselves because they lack, to some
degree, the necessary ingredients essential to exercising power.
These ingredients can be activated by the use of Master Words. You do,
as before, need to familiarise yourself with that which you need to associate
with your Master Word.
In the case of courage recall the occasions when you strongly experienced
the sense/feeling of courage. If you truly cannot recall such a time imagine
yourself in courageous circumstances where you are the hero or heroine.
Failing this, recall a personal hero/heroine. Any of these will familiarise you
with the feeling/emotion of courage and this also applies to confidence,
another of the essential ingredients.
must rationalise and simplify your thoughts on your mental and physical
make-up.
Therefore to activate and enhance our personal power we must exercise
our positive thoughts and emotions constantly and justly. Our space must
be filled with those thoughts and emotions through which we will express
ourselves with a given or rightful power.
The Master Words to activate our attitudes, feelings and emotions are as
follows:
Courage
Confidence
Power

CHAPTER FIFTEEN
ENTHUSIASM AND AGGRESSION
Of the many people one meets in life it is those who are enthusiastic about life
in general who are the most easily remembered and come readily to mind.
Enthusiasm is an emotion that can lift you from the ordinary to that of the
extraordinary in whatever sphere you operate. It can transform the apathetic
to one who suddenly becomes alive and impassioned with the will to do things
that their apathy had never dared to consider before. It is by its very nature
infectious, it can rub off on to others. It is a vital ingredient for each and every
one of us.
Salespeople in particular need this quality so that they may enthuse about
their product or service in order to persuade the buyers mind that the buyer
cannot exist without that product or service. Salespeople may, as individuals,
lack certain qualities deemed almost necessary to be successful and still be
effective, but not without enthusiasm, for not only is it necessary but it also
compensates for other shortcomings.
with its infectiousness and is a positive aid to gaining personal power. You will
note that all born leaders and those in commanding positions have this quality.
I am sure we can all recall people we know who allow life to pass them by
due to their inert and negative attitude to life. They complain of and allow the
slightest inconvenience to disrupt their plans and consequently hardly ever
do anything. They show so little enthusiasm for anything that you wonder if
they truly wish to accomplish their aim at all. They are so busy attracting failure
with their negative talk and thoughts, is it any surprise when their plans fail to
materialise?
We must make the most of our time and life by being enthusiastic about it
and enjoying the experiences our enthusiasm brings forth.
The Master Word for enthusiasm is:
S-P-R-A-Y
AGGRESSION
My next subject among our attitudes, feelings and emotions is one that is often
misunderstood and sadly misused, aggression.
There are unfortunately times in everyones life when aggression on our
part is necessary. If one is inclined to be placid in nature or normally timid, the
need to suddenly produce aggression can be very difficult. What normally
happens is that the timid person usually over-reacts because he/she is aware
of their timidity and therefore to ensure their intentions are clearly understood,
becomes over-aggressive.
If one is naturally aggressive then this emotion is never far beneath the
surface of ones feelings at any time but if one is otherwise, this emotion
has to be produced with the use of some triggering device such as a Master
Word. I understand that in the sporting world the term psyched up or
psyched out is commonplace.
To psyche yourself up is to mentally prepare yourself for the forthcoming
event, this of course includes producing an aggressive and competitive spirit
within oneself. I am told that many sports stars simply cannot perform their
skills without being psyched up in some way.
What of the other situations which demand some form of aggression?
CONTROLLED AGGRESSION IN YOUR LIFE
I know that at one time in my life when I was working full time and running a
home, Saturday was the busiest day of the week. I did the weeks shopping,
laundry and housework all on that particular morning followed by visits to
parents in the afternoon and evening. At first, it did not work out in the allotted
time until I became a little aggressive with myself and organised my routine
completely. It was only when I became a little mad at myself that I began to
41
complete my chores within the time allowed. So you see it sometimes pays
to allow a little controlled aggression into your life.
Some months after my realisation of what was required from me to organise
my life a friend of mine visited me complaining of her disorganised life due to
so little time available to carry out her chores. After we studied the situation
together it was obvious she was spending too much time drinking tea and
chatting with friends who casually dropped in far too often. This friend was
far too soft-hearted to take a strong line so she just allowed these friends to
waste her time. I told her she must become a little aggressive, if only to the
point of being kind but firm with them. This she did and from that point on
the situation improved vastly.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN
THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF OUR LIVES
I have advocated throughout this book the need for positive feelings/emotions
in the use of Master Words. These positive feelings/emotions are very
necessary particularly when you wish to erase the many negative forces and
facets of our being.
In this particular chapter I am going to catalogue some of these negative
responses which from time to time emerge from us and in doing so makes our
42
life less effective than we would like. If we can recognise these responses and
erase them from our state of being we will have made a dramatic step towards
our self-improvement.
GUILT FEELINGS
Psychologists and Psychoanalysts inform us of the harm we inflict upon
ourselves with guilt feelings. These feelings can be experienced after
comparatively ordinary and everyday events. Many of us I know, have feelings
of guilt simply after saying No to some ordinary request from a friend or
member of our family. I particularly mention friends and family because this is
an area where we all seem to experience conflict. One of the reasons is I believe
because we are close to our friends and family. They know us, and our pattern
of behaviour, responses and reactions. We know this and therefore behave
according to the image friends and family have of us. Then on some occasion
when for some reason, we do not want to do something despite the fact it is
expected of us, we feel terribly guilty if we say No or get angry with ourselves
if we concede to the request.
If the problem is one of not conceding to a verbal request, or not wanting
to do something brought to our attention by implication, we should question
the following:
(a) Are we, by conceding to the request or implication doing ourselves
an injustice or disservice in terms of time, physical effort or money?
(b) Would we, if we conceded to the request, be taking over someone
elses responsibility? If so, are we denying them a necessary experience?
(c) Would we by effecting this request be doing the requester an injustice
or disservice in the light of knowing what is wrong and bad for them?
(d) Are we adhering to our Good Guy/Nice Lady image for some obscure
motive?
The reason we should ask ourselves these types of guideline questions is
not simply because we do not wish to be inconvenienced or have to make any
sacrifices. It is because apart from the aforementioned questions there are
people who will manipulate and exploit us, given the chance, and we must
protect ourselves against that type of person and not feel guilty in the process.
Remember we have the right to say No to anything asked of us and not
feel guilty about it.
There are also other circumstances in our lives in which we can feel guilty.
Some of us of a more sensitive nature can feel guilty in asking others to help
us in some way. To ask for what may be considered rightfully ours fetches
feelings of guilt flooding to the surface of our mind.
43
These feelings we can well do without, unless there is a sound logical reason
for them. In that case we must examine that reason analytically and reconcile
ourselves with it. For to carry any guilt feelings around with us is harmful and
those feelings should be despatched from us as soon as possible. A Master
Word will activate an attitude from which will emerge a feeling/emotion that
will replace our guilt reaction. The Master Word is:
C-L-E-A-R
INFERIORITY
Much has also been written about inferiority feelings and complexes simply
because those feelings and complexes are very real for a great many people.
It is not just a simple case of acknowledging ones ignorance or inferiority in
a specialised area or facet of ones life, it is a bearing or air of not being worth
while or of any consequence to the world at large. This feeling of worthlessness
permeates the whole physical and mental levels of the one who has had this
feeling or complex thrust upon them by some early life conditioning factor.
CAPABLE, TO A POINT
During my research for this book someone in my husbands family told me of
a friend who freely admitted to an inferiority complex. The person to whom
this was admitted was quite astounded and just could not believe it as this
person seemed so capable in everything he did. This point was mentioned
and the man in question agreed that he was capable of most things up to a
point at which his feeling of inferiority always became evident. Therefore he
was never more than capable at anything. In effect his inferiority told him he
was no good at anything and it ensured he wasnt. Capable yes, but better
than that, no!!
This man then related the sorry story of his childhood. Apparently he was
born rather late in his parents married life and from what he gathered during
conversations later in his life, he was not really wanted. He can recall both his
mother and father admonishing him for just childs play and chatter, telling him
repeatedly that he should be seen and not heard!!
No wonder he felt unwanted and inferior with an early life conditioning such
as that. Of course not all inferiority feelings are expressed under a facade of
introspective quiet and inoffensiveness. Some of the most potent inferiority
complexes are hidden under an exterior of chatter and surface noise from the
one harbouring such a complex. This cover up ploy can be so effective that it
makes any eventual admission of an inferiority complex somewhat difficult to
realise.
44
NEGATIVE IS LIMITING
Any negative response to our life experiences can inflict harm and damage to
ourselves, mentally and physically. These forces can also undermine the
numerous relationships we become involved in during our lifetime, and by
doing so deny us much joy and happiness from the time we spend with others,
whatever the relationship.
45
I have covered some of these negative attitudes and forces earlier in this
book but there are others which collectively or alone, can create trouble and
havoc within our lives.
The majority of us tend to blame others for the problems and lack of
harmony in our lives but many of the problems are brought about by our own
responses to the actions of others.
Therefore until we amend such responses nothing will alter to the good of
those concerned. If you are an extremely jealous person who reacts with
jealousy every time you make contact with someone who has acquired, in
some way, something you do not possess, you are going to experience a life
of extreme jealousy and conflict. You will lose, and not make, friends because
of this unreasonable behaviour and be forever in conflict with yourself and
others. Let us now look at these negative responses.
JEALOUSY
This emotive response, which I have partially dealt with, creates much trouble,
particularly in family life. To be unreasonably envious or jealous of something
or someone another has, is allowing a negative force to obscure that which
we have and should be thankful for. It also promotes other negative attitudes
and responses which can have far reaching effects on us.
The response we call jealousy must be replaced by a more rational
response to our experiences and this can be achieved by the use of a Master
Word such as the following:
S-A-T-l-S-F-Y
HATRED
This is another response to a life situation that has hurt us in some way. Our
reaction with hatred is our way of retaliating to that situation, and the person
or persons within it. Again it is our problem, we have responded to a particular
situation with hatred towards it or the people in it. As we have reacted with a
negative emotion it cannot possibly improve the situation. To respond in this
way denotes fear, our number one enemy, and that can trigger off many other
negative forces from within us, if we do not control it. Hatred, as with most
other powers, will only become stronger with exercise. Therefore do not allow
it to be exercised. If it indicates its pending manifestation in some way preclude
it by using the Master Word:
A-C-C-E-P-T
46
E
GREED
Excessive greed and selfishness are responses, like all other excessive
responses, that balance our reactions to the experiences our lives put us into.
Again, fear is the biggest factor in the motivation of greed and selfishness.
Fear of not having, promotes greed and selfishness almost alarmingly! One
only has to remember the various shortages of commodities over the past few
years. I can vividly remember the shortages of coffee and sugar. I was appalled
at the behaviour of some shoppers in their efforts to grab one more tin or
package for their shopping bag!
Not only is it the fear of not having those goods and having to find
substitutes, but also the fear of being seen and known to be without
them. Seen by some as a slur on their housewifery in not obtaining those
goods!
Therefore to preclude the out of balance response of greed use the Master
Word:
L-l-B-E-R-A-L
ANGER
Anger and ill temper is a response which can manifest from within us at differing
speeds and intensities, depending upon the individual.
Deep anger and loss of temper can destroy our equilibrium and substantiate
the adage He who loses his temper, loses. He loses because the loss of
temper means loss of control and when that happens negative forces are rife
and in control of us. When that is the situation our lower selves and animal
instincts are expressing themselves freely.
We must always try to express ourselves in a calm and controlled manner.
If through pressure or stress, you feel a loss of even temperedness or the
inclination towards irritation or slight anger, prevent the occurrence of some
later regret by the use of the Master Word:
S-O-O-T-H-E
47
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
KEY FACTORS
Having explored some of the negative attitudes and emotions which plague
our lives let us now investigate some positive key factors, without which
we would suffer failure and disappointment in our attem pt to improve
ourselves.
There are four key factors which lead to a better existence for us through
the use of Master Words. These key factors are as follows:
DESIRE
DETERMINATION
WILL POWER
MOTIVATION
They are necessary ingredients for us if we are to succeed and they can
be realised by the use of appropriate Master Words.
Before giving the Master Words for these key factors we will analyse each
one, simply to underline its importance to us and the effectiveness of the
Master Words and their part in our personal transformation.
DESIRE
The dictionary gives the meaning of desire as a wish or something longea
for. I think something longed for is very appropriate because the responses
and reactions we are going to change or eliminate have been within us for a
considerable time. The havoc and trouble they have created can seem almost
endless, and with this in mind, we have been long suffering and we should
certainly long for a change for the better.
If you analyse your life and review your past experiences with total honesty
you cannotfail to see the problems and troubles yourresponses have':riggere^
off, not only for yourselves but also others.
One would have to be almost saint-like to avoid trouble entirely In t h i s
world but a great part of it is heaped upon us by ourselves. Unless v/e are
grossly masochistic, whereby we actually enjoy trouble and problems, our
desire to avoid lifes problems will be strong and vibrant once activated c\ a
Master Word.
48
DETERMINATION
Once your desire to improve yourself has been fully activated determination
on your part is required to exert pressure on that desire. By its very nature a
response or reaction can register strongly with us at first and then gradually
lose its potency as other responses manifest themselves to meet other life
experiences. When this happens a primer is required to reactivate the desire.
This primer can betheoriginal MasterWord of course, but oncethe response
of desire has manifested itself as an attitude and emotion it has to be
maintained by the determination to do so. If you find your determination does
not maintain certain responses just repeat the MasterWord for that response
and it will re-emerge. Whilst determination is a key factor, do not allow it to
dominate your original response by too much conscious effort, e.g. if your
original required response is for complete relaxation, too much determination
or any other key factor will dominate your original choice of response and
erode its effect. All of these key factors must be evident at any one time,
completely balanced, and ready to assist our Master Words.
WILL POWER
Much has been written about willpower or the lack of it! It is a key factor with
Master Words because once you recognise the need to change your
responses and attitudes to your experiences you then need to express and
affirm to yourself the will to do so!
If I asked you directly about your intentions and abilities to change your
responses to life, you may answer I can or I will'. The subtle difference is
that I know you can if Master Words' are applied correctly, but I do not know
if you will. Therefore one does require that w/V/ingness to change, for it can
be the vital difference between success and failure.
MOTIVATION
Motivation is a crucial factor in many aspects of our lives, for it is that which
gives us the incentive to act or the will to dispel our inertia and procrastination.
Our motive or motivation can be acquired from many sources. For us, with our
Master Words that summon a required response, the right Master Word will
motivate us into action, summoning the correct positive attitudes and emotions
which will enable us to accomplish our self improvement.
I classify motivation as crucial because it is the big difference between
talking and planning with great enthusiasm, and actually doing it!
We have all had our plans and dreams, which at the time seemed not only
possible but also highly probable. Unfortunately many of them remained just
plans and dreams because motivation was lacking. Think of the number of
49
times you have been inspired by a book or article after which you have vowed
and declared to yourself you would apply the guidance and instructions but
never did. How about the majority of our New Year resolutions?
The answer is the lack of motivation, which we must provide, and we can
with Master Words.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
YOU AND YOUR LIFE
In this chapter we are going to review not only the why and how of Master
Words and their functioning but also the many avenues which lead to and
from that functioning, which we faithfully seek self improvement, spiritual and
material growth.
50
In this review I wiii reiterate much that has been said earlier in this book,
but in seeking anything worthwhile one has to seek with wide vision, for it is
our blinkered thoughts and views which eventually lead us to the need for
wider thinking and horizons. Having encouraged you to do this throughout the
book with Master Words, I now wish, in this chapter, to emphasise and clarify
all the main points of this book in order that you will be able to focus more
clearly and quickly on those points.
THE BEGINNING
Having established that, let us revert our thoughts to the beginning of our
relationship as writer and reader of this book which you have bought or
borrowed in the hope of self improvement or sheer curiosity. At the point of
obtaining this book you were, and are, as we all are, a mass of responses and
reactions to your lifes experiences. These responses are fashioned by
numerous things of which many are beyond our control, such as the following:
(a) The time and place we were born which has a direct bearing on astro
logical influences.
(b)
(c)
If you do not believe in astrology, previous lives or Karma, there are still
many influences in this life to shape our responses. If you do believe in those
theories then you will appreciate even more how much of what we are has
been moulded by events beyond our control.
U S IN ACTION
We are what we are through our responses and patterns of behaviour,
whichever way we acquired them. As these responses and patterns are us
in action we are in a position to change or transform ourselves by erasing,
changing or improving these responses.
Such responses, reactions, attitudes and emotions are housed within our
mind. Most of them are deeply embedded patterns of thought and attitudes
which will resist the emergency of a new response. This is because most, if
51
not all, of our thought patterns were fashioned during our early years when
our minds were uncluttered, and very receptive, and therefore these thought
patterns are deeply channelled within us. Despite this we can change these
responses with the use of Master Words.
IN A RUT
You may have heard people complaining at times that they are in a rut,
meaning their life is following the same monotonous pattern with which they
are bored! What is really happening is that their life has conformed to a
monotonous routine simply because their thinking and attitudes have become
repetitious to the point of being rutted or channelled. They follow a regular
pattern of behaviour almost without thinking!! No wonder life has become boring.
The state of being we must try to achieve is one of complete relaxation
within a state of total concentration and awareness. This state can be achieved
with the use of Master Words. Initially this state will only span a short period
but gradually each span will increase in time until your whole day will be nothing
but that state of being. You will be completely relaxed yet aware within a state
of concentration. You will be totally effective, industrious and productive in
whatever you are doing.
You will be totally involved in the here and now, nothing else will exist,
except that which you are involved in.
Fear, our number one enemy, will gradually be erased from our being. Most
of our fears are based on the unknown and as we are concentrating fully on
the known, in the form of the here and now, the cause of fear will be
considerably diminished.
The best possible starting point for this is a complete state of relaxation,
concentration and awareness.
This is your basic state of being from which you will become acutely aware
of the changes you need in order to live a more productive, satisfying,
worthwhile life. You will be relaxed which will give you a sense of unison which
will co-ordinate your mental and physical powers. Allied to that, the power of
concentration will ensure there is no diffusing of those powers with worry,
irrelevant and fragmented thoughts and emotions. Finally, awareness will
enhance your powers of perception and observation to the need for change
and any changes already effected. The Master Word for awareness is:
M-l-N-D-F-U-L
When you have achieved this state of being, which in itself is a wonderful
transformation from your former self, you can then proceed on to other changes
you believe necessary in your life.
You may find it an advantage to spend a few minutes with your Master
Words and associated attitudes, emotions and feelings just before you sleep.
This is a time when your subconscious mind is active and by reviewing your
Master Words and associated emotions/feelings at the time they will become
deeply embedded in the subconscious mind level and therefore in closer and
more effective contact with the Universal Mind. Also this will enhance the
power and clarity of those associated emotions/feelings.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
GLOSSARY OF MASTER WORDS
The following Master words of mystic power should be repeated to oneself
slowly and suggestively.
When you have effectively associated y o u rMaster Word with the required
attitude and emotion, you may on occasion find it necessary to repeat your
MasterWord more than once. This depends very much on the existing mental
state one is experiencing at that particular time.
In most cases, you will only need to use the Master Word once on each
occasion you need to manifest a particular response.
