A Message from the Manager 3

It’s really hard to believe that this is our 2010 Spring/Summer Recreation Guide! Did the last six months fly by

SP R ING / S U MM ER 2010
as fast for you? With the days warming up and the sun shining, Murrieta provides a perfect backdrop to share
Mother Nature with your children or friends! Go outdoors and explore Murrieta! Visit our numerous parks and
play catch, volleyball, go swimming, or just play on the playground equipment. One of our residents’ favorite
spots is the multi-purpose trail at Los Alamos Sports Park. What a beautiful place to take a morning walk!
Take the time to explore the natural beauty in our own backyard, the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve.
There is so much for a family to do and explore on these 8,300 acres and forty miles of hiking trails. Experience
the wide variety of plants, animals, and the seasonal vernal pools. In addition, the Plateau has one of the finest
stands of rare Engelmann oak trees. This is the perfect place to become acquainted with nature.
The Community Service Department continues to offer you a wide variety of recreation classes and programs
for all ages. This year we will be dedicating the World War II wall at our Veterans Memorial
located at Town Square Park on Memorial Day. Mark your calendars; you won’t want to
miss it! Bring Dad out to our 40th Annual Father’s Day Car Show for a day of fun at
California Oaks Sports Park on June 20th. There is so much more that is going on in the
City in the next six months. Please take the time to look through this brochure and see
what interests you.
As always, we look forward to seeing you as a participant in our classes or at our special
events. If the staff can assist you in any way, please give us a call at 304-PARK (7275).
We invite you to come PLAY with us!
Sincerely,
Debbie Tharp

Connect with Murrieta
SPRING / SUMMER 2010

We’re looking for residents interested in hosting a Murrieta Connects meeting.

Murrieta Connects meetings are open forums in

residents’ homes where people can ask questions
and get immediate responses. Two City Council
members and members of city staff attend to hear
concerns, present the direction of the City and meet
the community in an informal setting.
If you’re interested in hosting a Murrieta Connects
meeting, please contact Brian Ambrose at (951) 461-
6007 or e-mail at bambrose@murrieta.org.

The City of Murrieta is the future of Southern California! There are many reasons why this is
true, but one reason is because you, a resident of this City, feel it is important to keep informed
of City business, to follow all laws, as well as to participate in City-sponsored events. In the
past, the City shared information with you via the CityScene newsletter.
Our goal is to help you stay informed. However, to effectively utilize tax dollars, we are
progressing toward the use of e-mail as an efficient method of communication. You may assist
in this endeavor of stretching tax dollars by going online to the City’s SubscribeLine webpage at

On the SubscribeLine webpage there are a
variety of topics in which you may be interested
