1. Einleitung, Kennzeichen
1. Introduction, identification
Elastomer-Werkstoffe in verschiedensten
Ausfhrungen ermglichen die Abdichtung
nahezu aller Medien.

2. Dichtwirkung
Die Dichtwirkung des O-Rings ergibt sich
beim Einbau aus dem axialen oder radialen
Verpressen seines Querschnittes. Er gilt als
aktives Dichtelement, da durch das
annhernd inkompressible Verhalten der
Elastomer - Werkstoffe, die Pressung auf
die Dichtflchen durch den wirkenden
Systemdruck noch erhht wird (Bild 2).
2. Sealing effect
The sealing effect of the O-ring is the
result of the axial or radial compression
of the ring's cross section when it is
installed. The O-ring is considered to be
an active sealing element due to the
almost incompressible behaviour of the
elastomer materials so that the pressure on the sealing surfaces as a result
of the system pressure is even increased
(Fig. 2).

3. Fields of application
O-rings are used in widely differing technical areas, for instance as individual
sealing elements in pneumatics and
hydraulics, and as tensioning elements
for sealing sets and scrapers.

1. Einleitung
1. Introduction

FEP O-rings are available in the same

2. Sealing effect
The sealing effect of the FEP O-ring is
the result of the axial or radial compression of the ring's cross section when it is
installed, similar to that of the elastomer
O-ring.
However, on account of the FEP jacket,
FEP O-rings have less elasticity.

Fr die
dynamische Abdichtung
O-Ringe. (siehe ULMAN O-Ring Einbauempfehlung).
Gleiches gilt fr die Oberflchenqualitten
und den Dichtspaltmaen S.
Der FEP Mantel erlaubt jedoch nicht die
Verformung wie bei den ElastomerO-Ringen
- sie sind nur begrenzt dehn- und stauchbar.
Fr den Einbau der FEP O-Ringe werden
daher geteilte Nuten empfohlen.

4. Design information
With regard to groove design the same
applies to installation FEP O-rings as to
standard elastomer O-rings (see
ULMAN O-ring Installation Recommendation).
The same applies to surface qualities
and sealing gap dimensions S.
The FEP jacket, however, cannot be
deformed to the same extent as
elastomer O-rings - extensibility and
compressibility are limited.
Consequently split grooves are recommended for installation FEP O-rings.

6. Montagehinweise

3. Fields of application
3. Einsatzbereiche

BS
2. Wirkungsweise
BB
High and pulsating pressures, wide sealing gaps and high dynamic stresses
cause the elastomer sealing ring to be
forced into the sealing gap, thereby damaging the sealing ring.
The sealing function is no longer assured.
Back-up rings (Fig. 2) prevent gap extrusion as they cover the sealing gap.
Even at the highest stress rates the
elastomer sealing ring assumes a defined shape and cannot penetrate into
the sealing gap.
3. Einsatzbereiche
3. Fields of application
The use of Back-up rings is recommended for the following operating conditions:
Generally with all pressures exceeding 50 bar. The following limit values
must be taken into account with static
and dynamic application:
Linear motion up to approx. 400 bar
Rotary motion up to approx. 150 bar
Static use up to approx. 2500 bar
Groe Temperatureinflsse
4. Design information
4. Konstruktionshinweise
Sttzringe sind Kombinationselemente fr
Elastomerdichtelemente (z.B. O-Ringe). Es
gelten daher die gleichen Vorgaben bezglich Oberflchenbeschaffenheit, Einfahrschrgen usw.
