A Word from Our Ministry Team

Rite of Election

Today is not only Valentine's Day and the First

Sunday of Lent, but it is also traditionally the day
the Catholic Church celebrates the Rite of
Election. On the First Sunday of Lent, the
Catechumens (those members of our community
who are preparing for Baptism) are sent to the
Bishop as testimony to their preparedness. From
today until the Easter Vigil, they are called the Elect, those chosen
by Godelectedto be brought into the Catholic Church
through the sacraments of initiation which are Baptism,
Confirmation and Eucharist. This period of Lent is a time of
intense preparation for them as well as for our Candidates (those
baptized Christians who seek to become fully-initiated members of
the Catholic Church) as they prepare themselves for the Easter
sacraments. Please join us in praying for them and supporting them
during this Lenten season. And, make plans to attend the Easter
Vigil so that you can welcome them as new Catholics. If youve
never participated in an Easter Vigil Mass, make this the year!

Tuesday, February 16, 7:00 pm at the UCC

Monday, February 22, 7:00 pm at St. Austin Parish
Stations of the cross and Soup suppers

Please join us for Stations of the Cross and our

annual Soup Suppers every Friday this Lent!
Stations begin at 6:00 pm at St. Austin
Church. Soup Suppers follow at 6:30 pm in
St. Austins Hecker Hall. This is a great way to
spend time in prayer with God and spend time in
fellowship with other parishioners.

Outdoor stations of the cross March 4, 1 pm

Join the UCC for outdoor Stations of the Cross on the UT campus,
beginning at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 4. Meet at the Littlefield
Fountain at 21st and University. We will pray around campus and
take turns carrying a cross.

Our Elect: Dave Faria, Angie Palacios, and Bethany Freeman

Our Candidates for Full Communion with the Catholic
Church: Avery Pawelek, Carlos Aurelio Martinez-Arriaga,
Christian Natajaya, Claudia Espinoza, Daniel Zapata, Danielle
