1. This assignment contains only ONE (1) question that is set in both Malay and English. / Tugasan ini
mengandungi SATU (1) soalan sahaja yang disediakan dalam bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Inggeris.
2. Answer in Malay or English. / Jawab dalam bahasa Melayu atau bahasa Inggeris.
3. Download the language version of the assignment template concerned from the MyVLE for
preparation and submission of your assignment. Your assignment should be typed using 12 point
Times New Roman font and 1.5 line spacing. / Muat turunkan templat tugasan versi bahasa yang
berkenaan daripada MyVLE untuk penyediaan dan penyerahan tugasan anda. Tugasan anda
hendaklah ditaip dengan menggunakan saiz fon 12 Times New Roman dan langkau baris 1.5.
4. Your assignment should be between 2500 to 3000 words excluding references. Do not copy the
assignment question and instructions to your answer. Only assignment answer developed within the
approximate word limit will be assessed. The number of words should be shown at the end of your
assignment. / Tugasan anda hendaklah mengandungi 2500 hingga 3000 patah perkataan tidak
termasuk rujukan. Bilangan perkataan hendaklah ditunjukkan di hujung tugasan anda. Jangan
menyalin soalan dan arahan tugasan dalam jawapan anda. Pemeriksa tidak akan membaca jawapan

EVALUATION
This assignment accounts for 40% of the total marks for the course and shall be assessed
based on the Rubrics or Answer Scheme attached.
You would be given feedback on the assignment before the Final Semester Examination
commences.
PLAGIARISM: MARKS DEDUCTION
Warning: The submitted assignment will automatically undergo a similarity check. If
plagiarism is detected, marks would be deducted as follows:

Assignments with 10 - 30% overlap with others: 20% deduction from the total
marks scored.
Assignments with 31 - 50% overlap with others: 40% deduction from the total
marks scored.
Assignments with more than 50% overlap with others: Zero mark would be given.

PENILAIAN
Tugasan ini menyumbang sehingga 40% daripada jumlah markah kursus berkenaan dan
akan dinilai berdasarkan kepada Rubrik atau Skema Jawapan yang dilampirkan.
Anda akan diberikan maklum balas tentang tugasan ini sebelum Peperiksaan Akhir
Semester bermula.
PLAGIARISME: POTONGAN MARKAH
Amaran: Tugasan yang diserahkan, secara automatik, akan disemak untuk menentukan
kadar pertindihan. Jika plagiarisme dikesan, markah akan dipotong seperti berikut:

Tugasan dengan pertindihan kandungan antara 10 - 30%: potongan 20% daripada


jumlah markah yang diperoleh.
Tugasan dengan pertindihan kandungan antara 31 - 50%: potongan 40% daripada
jumlah markah yang diperoleh.
Tugasan dengan pertindihan kandungan lebih daripada 50%: Markah sifar akan
diberikan.

ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

Vygotsky suggests that play is helpful in a childs development of language and thoughts
whereby mental structures are formed through the use of signs and tools. Play can also
free a child from the constraints of the real world surrounding him/her. In this way, play
gives children greater control over situations than they would have in reality. Children
play with meaning as well as with objects as a result of being freed from reality. They are
thus allowed to engage in higher-order thought processes through play. (Study Guide
HBEC2303 p. 99)
For this assignment, you are requested to:
(i)

Elaborate your understanding regarding the above statement;

(ii)

Observe your own workplace nursery/kindergarten/preschool settings and identify


the possibility for you to rearrange the classroom settings to suit the play based
approach. You need to take photos of the current classroom settings and later the
new settings.

(iii)

Plan your teaching session using the play based approach. Again, evidence of the
play based approach must be attached to this assignment. Evidence can be photos,
videos, and your lesson plan.

If you are not working in a nursery/kindergarten/preschool, you are advised to visit one
which is very convenient to you. Please make sure that you have the permission of the
nursery/kindergarten/preschool authorities before conducting the observation and
practices.
To complete this assignment, you are advised to do thorough reading from various
sources (text books, journal articles, proceeding/seminar papers, http) to gain
understanding regarding the focus of discussion for this assignment.

SOALAN TUGASAN
Vygotsky mencadangkan bahawa main boleh membantu dalam perkembangan bahasa
dan juga pemikiran kanak-kanak di mana struktur mental terbentuk melalui penggunaan
isyarat dan peralatan. Main juga membebaskan kanak-kanak daripada kekangan dunia
sebenar yang mengelilingi mereka. Dengan cara ini, main memberi kanak-kanak lebih
kawalan terhadap situasi berbanding jika mereka berada dalam dunia realiti. Kanakkanak bermain dengan makna berserta objek, hasil daripada terbebasnya mereka dari
realiti. Melalui main, kanak-kanak tidak terhalang dari terlibat dengan proses pemikiran
aras tinggi. (Study Guide HBEC2303 ms. 99)
Untuk tugasan ini, anda dikehendaki:
(i)
Menghuraikan dengan lebih lanjut kefahaman anda berhubung kenyataan di atas;
(ii)
Melakukan pemerhatian terhadap seting di taska/tadika/prasekolah tempat bekerja
anda dan mengenalpasti kemungkinan bagi anda untuk mengubahsuai seting bilik
darjah tersebut agar ia menepati kehendak pendekatan berasaskan main. Anda
dikehendaki merakamkan gambar-gambar foto seting bilik darjah asal dan seting
(iii)

bilik darjah yang telah diubahsuai; dan


Rancangkan sesi pengajaran anda dengan menggunakan pendekatan berasaskan
main. Sekali lagi, bukti pendekatan berasaskan main ini haruslah disertakan
bersama tugasan ini. Bukti boleh terdiri daripada gambar-gambar photo, video,
dan rancangan pengajaran.

Sekiranya anda tidak bertugas di taska/tadika/prasekolah, anda dinasihatkan untuk


melawati sebuah taska/tadika/prasekolah yang paling anda senangi. Pastikan bahawa
anda memperoleh kebenaran dari pihak taska/tadika/prasekolah tersebut sebelum
memulakan pemerhatian dan amalan anda.
Untuk menyempurnakan tugasan ini, anda dinasihatkan untuk melakukan rujukan
pembacaan dari pelbagai sumber (buku teks, artikel-artikel jurnel, kertas-kertas
prosiding/seminar, http) untuk memperoleh kefahaman yang jelas berhubung fokus
