WebHCat properties are required for JDBC and SQL-H connections. SQL-H connection
is not available in Studio Express.
a In WebHCat Host Name, type the host name or IP address of the Apache HCatalog
system that manages the metadata services for your Hadoop system.
b In WebHCat Port Number, type the port number to use to communicate with the
WebHCat host.
c In WebHCat User Name, type the user name with permissions to access the
WebHCat host.

13 Specify the JDBC connection properties.
a In JDBC Host, type the host name of the Hadoop System to which to connect.
b In JDBC Port Number, type the port number to use to communicate with the host.
c In JDBC Database, type the name of the Hadoop database.
d In JDBC User Name, type the user name to use to connect to the database.
e In JDBC Password, type the password required to access the database using Hive
JDBC.
f Select Save Password to save the password you enter in the previous step.
g Select HTTP Transport Mode to transfer data using the HTTP secure transfer mod
e.
h In HTTP Path type the HTTP server path. The default value is cliserver.
i [Optional] Click Test Connection to verify the connection is successful.
14 Click Next.
A Summary of the information you entered in the previous steps displays.
15 Click Finish.
If the connection succeeds, the new Hadoop Hortonworks connection profile displa

the Database Connections list in Data Source Explorer.
Creating an Aster Connection Profile
When you open the application for the first time after installation, the Quick T
our window
appears.
1 Open the New Connection Profile Wizard by right-clicking the Databases
Connections folder and selecting New.
2 Select Aster Database from the list of connection profile types, enter a Name
and
Description for the Aster connection profile, and click Next.
The wizard defaults to the Aster Embedded JDBC Driver.
3 [Optional] To use a different Aster JDBC driver:

a Select New Driver Definition.


b Select the Aster External JDBC Driver template, and then click the Jar List ta
b.
c Click Add JAR/Zip to locate the JDBC Driver JARS.
d Click OK.
4 Enter the Database Server Name, User Name, Password, Port Number, and Database
Name for the connection.

5 [Optional] Select Save Password to save your password to disk.
If you do not save the password you will be prompted to enter one when you conne

the profile.
6 [Optional] To add or modify the JDBC connection properties:
Option Description
Add a property Click Add, select USER ENTERED PROPERTY VALUE from the JDBC
property from the list, enter the Property Name and Property Value, and
click OK.
Remove a property Select the property, and then click Remove.
7 [Optional] To configure the schema cache, click Cache Properties and select on
e or
more schemas.
8 [Optional] Click Test Connection to test the connection.
9 Click Finish to complete the Aster connection profile.
