Given the copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) phase diagram shown in figure (1), cite the

phases that are present and the phase compositions for the following alloys :
i) An alloy of composition 20 wt% Ni 80 wt% Cu at 1100 C
ii) An alloy of composition 30 wt% Ni 70 wt% Cu at 1200 C
iii) An alloy of composition 50 wt% Ni 50 wt% Cu at 1300 C
iv) An alloy of composition 70 wt% Ni 30 wt% Cu at 1400 C

With reference to the given iron carbon diagram; choose the correct statement

for the following :

1. Phase "A" is :
A liquid state consisting of iron and carbon.
Represents a phase of pearlite with cementite around the grain boundaries.
Represents ferrite containing a maximum of 0.2 % Carbon dissolved in a solid
