Impact to clients
In a 2002 qualitative survey conducted by Freedom
From Hunger, 12 out of 27 focus groups interviewed
named MBA insurance as the most valuable aspect of
the entire CARD product portfolio.
Impact to clients
In 2003, the result of the study “CARD’s experience on
Dropouts: Results & Findings of an Exit Survey revealed
that the insurance program of CARD was ranked
second (41.5%) after only the loans themselves (46.3%)
when the members were asked what it is they liked
best about CARD.
Lessons Learned
1. Effective collection mechanism and microfinance
activities are vital.
2. Microinsurance policies should align with microfinance.
‐ No members shall be accepted if their interest in
joining is only the benefits coming from the
microinsurance program.
‐ No member’s contribution for microinsurance will be
accepted if there is no payment for loan amortization
and no savings or CBU.
Lessons Learned
‐First Php 20.00 must be applied
‐Claims payment must be disbursed at the branch level to
meet the 24‐hour target in claim settlement.
‐cross selling of products and services of the microfinance
and microinsurance operations during their respective
information dissemination campaign.
‐The members like Center Leaders and MBA Coordinators
together with CARD MRI staff are involved in claims
settlement to give personalize service to members even
at the time of death.
