MODEL 3402

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Lab-Volt Model 3402 Heat Pump Training System,
part of an integrated refrigeration training system, is
designed to introduce students to the principles and
components of modern heat pump systems. The generalized approach employed by the system may be easily
applied to many popular systems in use.
This system enables the trainer to teach the principles of modern heat pump systems, while helping students determine the circumstances under which heat
pump systems are most effective. Lockable fault insertion
switches introduce eighteen different electrical faults,
allowing students to improve their proficiency in troubleshooting. The Model 3402 includes all the equipment
required to perform the exercises contained in the
courseware. Optional equipment adds to the efficiency
of the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating training
laboratories.

manual thermostat heating mode selection, defrost time
termination, and power switches.

The training system is supported by correlated
courseware employing a competency-based, individualized approach to the study of domestic heat pumps. The
courseware consists of a training manual comprised of
units and exercises with detailed discussions, exercise

definitions, objectives, and step-by-step procedures, as

well as a companion instructor guide.
Prerequisite to the Lab-Volt Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Heating Program is the successful completion
of an introductory course in electricity and electronics.
