COURSE DESCRIPTION
PE 2 BD (Badminton) is an introductory course which aims to teach the necessary skills to play the sport.
The course will include the mechanics of the game so that the students may be able to play and officiate
by themselves. The course has its ultimate objective of exposing the students in various opportunities for
physical activities and gain better appreciation of benefits from engaging in healthy lifestyle.
COURSE GOALS
At the end of the semester the students should be able to:
1.
Execute basic movement & skills commonly used in Badminton;
2.
Demonstrate the skills learned in an actual game of Badminton;
3.
Apply various strategies/techniques in winning a game;
4.
Adapt good values in sport through healthy competition;
5.
Engage in a healthy lifestyle with Badminton as one of the physical activities;
6.
Officiate the game of Badminton.

CLASS RULES

University Rules apply.


Maximum of TWO (2) ABSENCES, late arrivals included (2 LATE ARRIVALS = 1 ABSENT),
THIRD (3rd) absence is equivalent to a grade of 5.0 in the FINAL GRADE or the student MUST
drop the course.
Perfect attendance, with no late arrivals will be given an incentive in the FINAL GRADE.
Must give the INSTRUCTORS COPY if student drops the subject.
BE RESPONSIBLE for your absence/s and late arrivals.
MUST present medical certificate certified by the UP Health Service upon return to class (if
sick).
Student with past and present medical conditions and/or have undergone medical procedures
MUST submit medical clearance from his/her personal/family doctor. The doctor is also
requested to give recommendations/suggestions about the students participation in any physical
activity. The medical clearance MUST also be certified by the UP Health Service.
UNIFORM: Prescribed UP Manila PE Uniform (shorts/jogging pants, t-shirt, socks and rubber
shoes)
Use of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets during class is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
The teacher has the right to send the student out of the class. Repeated offense is punishable by
forced dropping.
This syllabus serves as guide for the flow of the class. However, it shall not be considered as the
absolute determinant of weekly class activities.

CLASS SCHEDULE
Meeting 1: Class Orientation (discussion of syllabus, venue, requirements, other matters)
Meeting 2: Start of oral reports; Submission of index card
Meeting 38: Acquisition of Skills/Training
Meeting 912: Competition within the class
Meeting 13: Final practice for top players
Meeting 14: Interclass Badminton Competition / Finals
EQUIPMENT: Badminton racket, shuttlecocks (to be provided by students)
VENUE: Court Zone (see map posted in the office)
COURT FEE: 70Php
