INTRODUCTION TO GATI

Gati pioneered express distribution service in India in 1989.Gati was one of the first
companies to print its delivery date on the docket and offer money back guarantee, by
accepting payment after producing proof of delivery a POD. Gati started the practice
which is now perceived as a standard norm in the industry.
Gati first started operations between Madras and Madurai. After in-depth planning, Gati
launched its operations in four stations: Hyderabad, Bangalore, Madras and Hosur in
1989.in the generic cargo segment.
Gati's business model was different , it choose to focus on the customer's needs right
from day one and time bound, point to point delivery, premium priced cargo
management service was its key value proposition. Gati never operated the transport
vehicles on it's own from the beginning itself, instead developed the Business Partner
concept of Gati Associates, thus giving rise to a team of entrepreneurs who were
independent business partners of Gati.
The name Gati was coined after short listing several Sanskrit-based names .Gati
reflects speed with direction, true to the way of its operations.
Gati started its operations as a door-to-door cargo company, a division of Transport
Corporation of India (TCI) in 1989. Mr.Mahendra Agarwal Founder & CEO of Gati Ltd
wanted to rebuild TCI based on processes, systems and manage it professionally to
meet consumer implicit and explicit delivery needs.
Over period of 7 years, under the leadership of Mr. Mahendra Agarwal the division
flourished into a small business and in 1994, Gati was ready to separate from TCI and
perform on its own. The actual legal separation took place in 1996 and the division
emerged, Gati came into being an 18 Crores cargo business, splitting from its 200
crores mother company
In April 2013, Gati Ship(business discontinued) a subsidiary of Gati Ltd. and
International Shipping Logistics FZE launched a new Coastal Container Service
between North India and South India covering the sea ports of Kandla, Mundra,
Cochin . The new service is named as ISL-Gati Express Coastal Service.
In February 2013, GATI-KWE was awarded for its efforts in the category of
Achievement in Continuous Improvement at the 2nd Asia Manufacturing and
Supply Chain Summit, Mumbai.
In December 2012, Gati received two awards constituted by Dataquest - "Dataquest

Business Technology Excellence Awards 2012" for their overall excellence in the use
of business technology & "Dataquest Technology Innovation Award 2012" for the
Mobility segment

Education
Gati Government High School, Hyderabad, Telangana

Gati partnered with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and built a school building with
27 classrooms, washrooms and a large playground. The school which currently
provides education to more than 850 students was declared a "Model Government
School" in the year 2011. Gati financially supports the school in conducting yearly
events (Republic Day, Independence Day, Teachers Day & Children's Day) and
undertakes all expenses related to house-keeping, security and maintenance. A
computer lab is inaugurated with 20 computers and computer knowledge imparted from
Class III to IX by a dedicated computer instructor. Every year the P.D.Agarwal
Meritorious Student Award is awarded to the Toppers in Class VIII & IX. Sports
development to the students is very important activity undertaken by GATI and sponsors
the Handball team with sports kit and nutrition supplement.

Gati Manickam Chettiar Middle School, Nagore, Tamil Nadu

Gati undertook the development of the MC High School at Nagore, which was a tsunami
affected district in Tamil Nadu and constructed a building with 18 rooms, a kitchen and
toilets. Currently the school provides education to more than 500 children from the

Tsunami affected families. The School was recently awarded the 'Best Government
School' in the Nagore area. Gati financially supports the school in conducting yearly
events (Republic Day, Independence Day, Teachers Day & Children's Day) and
undertakes all expenses related to house-keeping, security and maintenance. A
computer lab is inaugurated with 20 computers and computer knowledge imparted from
Class III to IX by a dedicated computer instructor.

Joining Hands with Hyderabad Goods Transport Association


(HGTA)

Gati joined hands with Hyderabad Goods Transport Association in setting up the
Transport Training & Development Institute (TTDI), a state of the art truck drivers and
transport employees training school cum grooming centre at Autonagar in Hyderabad.
The TTDI is the first of its kind initiative to train the personnel of transport sector which
includes truck drivers, cleaners, hamalis (transport labours), staff of transporters, etc.
The objective of TTDI is to empower commerical vehicle drivers with all the essential
safety practices so that they face the roads with a much greater responsibility. In
addition, the fleet drivers are trained in improved driving skills, basic mechanics, fuel
saving techniques and safe practices. The institute which is the 9000 sq ft two storied
facility with modern and updated mechanical and electrical labs, including a computer
lab which would groom truck drivers and transport workers not just in matters of
automobiles but also soft skills, English, computers, online operations and Google map
reading.

Recycling of eWaste, an initiative towards Green IT

Since the last 3 years, Gati has been disposing off its old IT hardware in an organized &
environment friendly way. All the old IT hardware is consolidated and handed over to
Eco Recycling Limited for recycling. This initiative is aimed at reducing air and water
pollution caused by hazardous disposal. Additionally, recycling also reduces the amount
of greenhouse gas emissions caused by the manufacturing of new products and helps
keep the environment green.

Support to Wealth out of Waste ("WOW") Project

GATI has always been committed towards building a clean and green society. As a step
towards this, GATI is supporting ITC-PSPD LTD. & RRRL's National Recycling Project Wealth out of Waste (WOW). This project aims to protect the environment and reduce
Global warming by creating awareness among the people on the importance of
'Recycling' - encouraging them to segregate waste and dispose it responsibly. GATI is
supporting this environmental cause by collecting recyclable material at all its office
locations and giving it for Recycling. The Recycling of waste leads to huge
environmental benefits like saving trees, water conservation , reducing landfills etc.

Received a certificate of appreciation for contributing 5,131 kgs of Paper Waste to ITCWOW during June 2013 - September 2013. Environmental savings by recycling of
above contributed paper waste are 113 trees, 6 Cubic Mtrs. of land fill space, 133 KL

of water, 2,309 Ubits of energy and reduction of 5 Mt of CO2"

Gati adopts Tiger in a Zoo

Gati has adopted a tiger at the Nehru Zoological Park as a contribution towards wildlife
conservation. On the occasion of Gati's 25 years and as a part of its corporate social
responsibility, the company has donated Rs. 1 lakh to the park which will go towards the
maintenance and care of a tiger for the period of one year.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

We at Gati are totally committed and work hand in hand to make the country clean
through many cleanliness initiatives. To begin with, a clean up activity was organized at
The Jubilee Bus Stand, Secunderabad on Sat, 28-Mar-2015. Gatites came forward in
larger numbers to participate in this activity making it a grand success. We aim to take
this cleanliness drive to all locations and contribute in every possible way towards the
well being of the country.

Daan Utsav

"Daan Utsav (earlier called the Joy of Giving Week) is India's "festival of giving"!
Launched in 2009, the festival is celebrated every year, in the week including Gandhi
Jayanthi, i.e., October 2-8, and brings together Indians from all walks of life, to celebrate
"giving". From auto drivers to CEOs, school children to celebrities, homemakers to
opinion leaders, millions of people give time, money, resources or skills back to the
society by creating or participating in events of their choice. We at GATI decided to
donate rice and the collected rice was given to orphanages across India. The initiative
saw good response and a total of 5,075 kgs of rice was collected.
