Ford Philippines sales last year jumped a record 25 percent to 25,372


units, firmly establishing Ford as the number three-selling automotive
brand in the country.
The highly capable and versatile Ranger finished 2015 as the second
best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines with total retail sales that
increased six percent year-over-year to 8,445 units.
The EcoSport compact urban SUVs continuing impressive run made it
Fords best-selling nameplate in the Philippines in 2015.

OPPORTUNITIES

Mitsubishi Motors Montero Sport sudden acceleration issues. Victims


of alleged sudden unintended acceleration (SUA) incidents on Montero
Sport SUVs have turned to social media to voice their grievances and
calls for action.
Philippines is the 5th lowest worldwide of car ownership and only 38%
of the households own a car. Despite the low car ownership level in the
Philippines, the Nielsen survey revealed that Filipino consumers join
Indonesians and Thais as having the strongest drive of acquiring a car
within the next two years.

THREATS

Berjaya Auto, distributor and retailer of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia and


the Philippines, will be reviving the SsangYong brand in the Filipino
domestic market.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) Corp. is investing more than P2 billion
for the full model change of the Innova, the companys best-selling
multipurpose vehicle assembled in its Sta. Rosa, Laguna plant.
