Anne Frank

Anne Frank is the main character and protagonist of her diary. On her thirteenth
birthday, diary was her birthday present and the time when she started writing her
diary. In Annes eyes her dad Otto Frank was an excellent parent and her mother
Edith Frank was very rude and uncaring. She was very much jealous of her elder
sister Margot as she was more beautiful, talented and intelligent than her. Like an
ordinary teenager, she wanted to be independent and have boyfriends. When they
moved to annex she handled the change easily than her sister and mother. She was
struggling with everyone their as everyone was criticizing her behavior.
Mrs. Frank
Mrs. Frank was the mother of Anne Frank. Anne thought her mother was not a good
parent as she took her frustrations on her and though she described her as cold,
critical and uncaring. She was very much unhappy with Annes behavior with her.
She always took Annes elder sister Margots side as she was obedient and always
the one who listened to her. She wasnt happy about going to annex as she havent
helped Anne and Otto Frank with unpacking. She and Mrs. Van Daans were always
used to fight in the annex and Mrs. Frank never tried to make peace in the annex.
Otto Frank
Otto Frank was the father of Anne Frank. According to her, he is the kindest,
smartest, gentlest, and thoughtful fathers imaginable. He always saved food for the
children unlike Mr. Dussel. He took his family to Holland after seeing Jews were
being persecuted in Germany. He was generous as he helped Van Daans and Mr.
Dussel. He was the leader at the annex. He always tried to create peace in the
annex and solved disputes there. He was very close to Anne and always helped her
to cope with daily disputes and arguments.
The Van Daans
The Van Daans were helped by Otto Frank. He gave them space to live in annex to
be protected from Hitlers reign. They were three Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan and their
son Peter Van Daan. Mr. Van Daan was a former business associate of Otto Frank.
He was not a good parent and husband as he usually used to quarrel with his family
and with Frank family too. He was a chain smoker. Mrs. Van Daan was also not a
good parent as she didnt knew how to handle her son. She usually fought with Mrs.
Frank, criticized Anne and flirted with Mr. Frank. As by Anne she was better than
Mrs. Frank. Peter Van Daan was a sixteen year old teenager who had a romantic
relationship with Anne. He never tried to put efforts to improve and so was lazy. At
first Anne thought about him this only but later she found him sweet and was later
on soon again disappointed.
