I am writing this letter of recommendation in order to

introduce the student Catalin Gabriel Costescu for

attending the.. University , computer science.
Catalin Gabriel Costescu has been my student for four
years at Fratii Buzesti National Highschool, in the 12th
grade, department mathematics - informatics, bilingual
German - having outstanding results through the years
and also being involved in various extra-school activities
(contests, projects, volunteering). As an informatics
teacher, I have been impressed by his passion and
interest regarding this field. Discipline, seriousness,
strictness and perseverance best characterize my
student. Another strength of Catalin is represented by his
skills, abilities - in mathematics, physics and informatics
certified by several prizes won in numerous national
contests like:
The 2nd position at the PowerPoint projects presentation
in Physics Visul de aur al omenirii, the 21st 22nd of
March 2014;
Diploma for special merits as a solver in Gazeta
Matematica, 2014 2015;
Silver medal at the National Contest Evaluare in
Educatie la Informatica TIC si CD Tudor Sorin the 13 th
the 19th of May 2013

A recent activity this student participated in was on the

30th of October 2015 in a report session about video
editing. Catalin exposed his work not only by words but
also by giving examples. Using a fluent language, he
managed to make himself understood not only by the
students but also by the teachers present there. Along
the years, Catalin developed a special interest in Web
Design, continuously searching for different related
materials for extra-study, without neglecting the school
subjects, though.
He has his own Youtube channel, called Darkmare 77
which I personally find very interesting as I can notice his
progress gradually.
Moreover, he tries to include special effects, making use
of his amazing imagination and creativity in order to
attract publics attention. I have spotted him since the 9 th
grade due to his attraction for informatics and TIC, as he
was always keen on understanding the information being
given during the class.
The experience gained from the Duke of Edinburgs
International Award Romania represents an asset for
Catalin, as he had the possibility to work in a team as well
as mediate conflicts, consequently proving good leader
skills. Coordinating, organizational skills and also the

good use of foreign languages like English and German

have been proved while volunteering in A.N.C.A.A.R (The
autistic children and adults non-profit organizations from
Oltenia). Catalin has been directly involved in
Collecting funds for these people by taking part in various
sports competitions( the 1st position in Crosul copilariei
on the 14th of June 2014).
Concerning the relationship with the students and his
teachers, his behavior has always been exemplary. His
critical, systemic way of thinking, the passion for
informatics, creativity and intellectual curiosity,
formulation and problem solving and also features like :
professionalism, seriousness, rigor, analytical ability, both
independent and team work, excellent communication
skills allow Catalin to be a successful student at
the.. University.
Social, technical, organizational competences, intellectual
profile recommend Catalin Gabriel Costescu to be a
suitable attendant for this university, which is the reason
why I strongly recommend him.
