C L A S S I C S
In this catalogue weve collected the

products that we consider to be our
classics. Products that are timeless,
that are designed and crafted with eye
to more than just trends.They are basic,
functional and durable. Some of them
have been sold for many years and others
will hopefully be our next classics. Only
time will tell. Weve been here for almost
100 years we like to think we know
what it takes to create a true classic.
Dickies is classic American workwear

adopted by different subcultures, strongly
associated with the American West Coast.
One thing all these groups have in common
is that they mainly have chosen Dickies
because they stand for anti-fashion. Simple,
relaxed, masculine garments that are
stylish but never fancy. Even though the
Dickies-suit today has become fashion
in itself since the dedicated users have
inuenced the rest of the fashion world
so much.
Dickies have become so much more than

just workwear in the term, clothes just to
work in. It has become part of so many
various ways of expressing yourself and
your specific lifestyle. But one thing is for
sure, almost 100 years after the companys
introduction, workers all over the world,
whether they are tattoo artists, custom
car builders or construction workers, still
choose Dickies as their number one choice
when it comes to durable, functional and
timeless clothes for hard work.
HISTORY
C.N. Williamson and E.E. Colonel Dickie
began their business careers in the vehicle
and harness business in Bryan, Texas. In 1918,
they made what turned out to be a momentous
decision when they and a few friends
established the U.S. Overall Company. Then, in
1922, C. Don Williamson joined with his father
and cousin to buy 100% of the overall company
on a one-third-each basis and renamed it
Williamson- Dickie Manufacturing Company.
From its early years, Williamson-Dickie
enjoyed steady growth, slowed only by the
Great Depression, and during World War II, the
company was sequestered to produce millions
of uniforms for the nations armed forces. In
converting to civilian production after the
war, C. Don Williamson began a strategy of
geographical expansion and established new
production facilities, warehouses and sales
territories throughout the United States.
In the late 1950s, Williamson-Dickie became

an international company by expanding into
the European market and the Middle Eastern
market where Texas oilmen introduced
Dickies to Middle Eastern oil elds.
While Williamson-Dickie began as a bib
overall company, today it has grown to be the
number one manufacturer of work apparel
worldwide.

OVER THE YEARS

Dickies started as a brand for hardworkers
only. Over the years the clothes have been
adapted by various subcultures worldwide.
In Los Angeles, Cholos started to wear
oversized Dickies with their white tees, plaid
or striped shirts, knee high white socks with
their khaki shorts. A style that later influenced
the hip-hop world; on both coasts as well as
in the dirty south. 50s inspired Rockabillies
with their greased up pompadours and old
school tattoos wore the 874 a bit tighter. The
original Skateboarders in California used the
durable and price worthy 874s when they
crashed the citys abandoned and drained
pools. Punk Rockers used the classic Dickies
products as well, preferably in black.
And how many bands havent used the
Eisenhower Jacket as their ofcial band jacket?
Kustom Kulture afliates, bike mechanics and
bike messengers they all cut off their 874s in
different lengths to ll their different purposes
and suit their distinct dress codes. The list
could go on and on.
Dickies have become so much more than
just workwear in the term clothes just to work
in. It has become part of so many ways of
expressing yourself and your specic lifestyle.

The Shamrock Social
Club. Located in the
heart of Hollywood on
Sunset Boulevard. His
career spans over three
decades and with each
wave of inuence that
tattoo culture has had
on mainstream America,
Mark has been there.
From the underground

punk scene of the 1970s
to the black and grey
movement of East L.A.
in the 1980s to the
mainstream popularity
of tattoo art in the
Hollywood scene of
the present. Mark has
been a pivotal inuence.
The theme of Marks
shop has always been
where the elite and the
underground meet.

and produces handmade
bare metal parts for
motorcycles like
handlebars, hard tails,
seat pants, sissy bars,
customized tanks and
just about anything else.
Like being responsible
for the skateboard
brand Black Deck and
producing custom car
and bike movies under

the name Hotrod Havoc
and Two Wheel Terror.

in their shops in Costa
Mesa and Long Beach.
The original work pants 874 are the most

Hells Belles is an all

girl Kustom Kulture
car club with chapters
in Los Angeles, San
Francisco and Seattle.
Melinda (the lady in
the picture) is one fifth
of the Los Angeles
chapter, co-owner of
Walden Speed shop in
Pomona and drives a
beautiful Chevy Nova.
The first Eisenhower Jacket was designed

at Fort Lewis by Joseph Rome in 1940
when Lt Colonel Eisenhower asked Rome
to make him a jacket tight at the waist
with pleats in the back. Rome was under
strict orders to make only army regulation
clothing, but the future President said he
would take the responsibility.
This is how the first Eisenhower Jacket
was made and when it was worn by
Eisenhower it started an army fashion that
resulted in the production of thousands
of different jackets all over the world. The
Dickies Eisenhower Jacket may well be
one of the most popular.

For this catalogue Dickies teamed up with

Los Angeles based photographer Eric Coleman
to shoot all colors and almost all sizes of the
Original 874 Work Pant on 25 different models.
A very ambitious shoot and were truly grateful
for all of the participants in that project. In this
catalogue youll find a selection of all those
pictures.
Mark Mahoney, Hawleywoods Barbershop, JDA,
Hells Belles, Duane Peters and Jace Cimabue
were shot by Steven Perilloux in Los Angeles.
Kaves was shot by Ricky Powell in New York.
Chuey and Fergus of Chuey Brand and Curtis
Inglis were shot by Johan hrn in San Francisco.
The rest of the products in this catalogue were
shot in Europe by Henrik Jonestrand.
This catalogue is only distributed for the
European market.
