After the conditional approval of design by the QCE, non-objection will be given by the
Engineer and access to the site will be given to QBC after submission of pre-requisite
documents. We intend to start the work with safety barricading of the area where the
construction activity will be involved. The Tunneling works have been split into four
locations and based on the approval of design the work will be started as per the approved
Baseline Program assuming that all the necessary permits and approvals will be issued on
time and no obstructions will stop QBCs work progress.
QBC assumes that all the Client and Government authorities permits/ approvals/sanctions
will be prepared on time without any delays or interruptions for the work to start in
accordance with the Programme.
QBC assumes that if any scope of the project changes or any additional works or
unforeseen conditions are incurred, it will affect the end date of the project and the Client
will extend the required time allocation for such works.
Methodology for non-productive hours
QBC abides with the Qatar labour laws on construction sites. In the draft Baseline
Programme the non-productive hours during the month of Ramadan have been considered
and the allowable working time during this period is considered as 5-6 hours per day.
During mid-summer, change in working hours will be implemented as stipulated by
Government and the working hours for construction activities during this season will be 10
hours per day. By increasing manpower and machinery to achieve the stipulated completion
date QBC may request the Engineer to approve the overtime work hours if required.

At shaft SH 8/38 secant pile works will be adopted. Secant pile works begin with
construction of a guide wall. After completion of guide wall installation, casing will be done
and auger boring will be done through the casing after attaining desired depth grouting
works will commence and concreting of primary secant pile will be done. Alternative piling
will be done. The figure below shows the sequence of work that will be adopted for
executing the secant piling work. Secondary piles are installed with reinforcement bars.
Once the secant piling works are done, excavation works will commence down to the
bottom of designed temporary slab. Concreting works will commence only after completion
of epoxy grouting of reinforcement into the secant pile and tie in with the temporary slab
reinforcement. Launching head and ring beam concreting (support) will be constructed in
order to place the jacking frame for MTBM.
After completion of Secant piling works the machine will be shifted to another location that
is SH 8/39 and the above procedure will be repeated.

installing cutting frame on the bed. Strands are connected to the cutting frame and precast
segments are installed over the cutting frame. Installation of VSM unit will commence and
after installation of the VSM machine and its associated units. The excavated portion is
filled with bentonite and water and cutting heads will be rotated all over the area of the
temporary shaft, pumping out the slurry and installation of pre cast segment will be carried
out till it reaches the desired level. Concreting will be done.
Installation of VSM unit alone will carry 4-5 week duration and expected productivity is 2
meter depth. After completion of shaft SH 8/10 the unit will be shifted to another location.
