The Day Jesus Crossed the Line, Part 8 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 41)

TEXT: John 4:33-38

33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his
work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto
you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he
that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye
are entered into their labours.
---------Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon series, which
is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding
Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing the main thing -- and
that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for
their salvation, for the problem in America is not only disobedient presidents and
politicians but disobedient pastors, preachers, and parishioners who have refused to
obey God's Great Commission and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands
to "pray without ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you
should pray for the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the
Lord gives you peace about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it like the world does.
Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their hearts right with
the Lord.
This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which says,
"For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him
crucified." Acts 5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they
ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2 Timothy 2:4 which says, "No man
that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who
hath chosen him to be a soldier."
This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of those
saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old story of Jesus and His love" -- As the hymn

says, "For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest."
This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and understand the Gospel and
be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 41.
Basilea Schlink, "Do not lose yourself in your everyday work and activities. Rather, lose
yourself in God. When you are doing work, let your innermost heart be centered on Him.
Live in His presence and abide in Him. Then your work will follow you into eternity, and
you will reap a rich harvest."
Jesus takes the inquiries of His disciples and uses them to explain an important aspect
of His mission. He tells them that His fulfillment and satisfaction come from doing God's
will and sharing the Gospel with others as He had just done with the Samaritan woman.
Then, He lets them know that their fulfillment should come from the same.
Using what was likely a popular proverb in that day, Jesus says, "Say not ye, There are
yet four months, and then cometh harvest?" This was a common expression meaning
that just as a farmer must plant seed and wait a few months before harvesting, so must
people wait in other walks of life. But, Jesus says this waiting period is no longer
necessary because souls are ready to be harvested into God's kingdom right now. Just
as Jesus had planted the seed with the Samaritan woman and she immediately
responded, there are untold millions who would respond to the Gospel if only someone
would go ready to plant and ready to harvest.
Jesus tells His disciples, "Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white
already to harvest." Some say that Jesus was likely looking at the Samaritan people,
many of whom would be dressed in white, as they came running out of the city to meet
him. Jesus wanted to get His disciples excited about harvesting souls. He tells them, "He
that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that
soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together." Bringing souls into the kingdom of
God was rewarding work. Everyone who did so would receive "wages", a reward or
payment. But, more importantly, the harvest of souls was work that had eternal
significance. Harvesting crops was a task which had to be done over and over again
each year because last year's harvest would run out or spoil. But, winning souls to Jesus
was something that had eternal value. Jesus expects everyone involved in this work to
gain joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment from it as He did.
Now, of course, everyone would not believe immediately as the Samaritan woman had
done. Many would hesitate at first and come to faith at a later date. Jesus says that is
okay. "One soweth, and another reapeth." You may not be the one who sows the seed,
but if you have a hand in reaping a soul, you can take joy in the work. You may not be the
one who reaps, but if you planted the seed, you can rejoice when that soul comes to
Christ.

In fact, Jesus tells His disciples that this is the kind of work they will be most engaged in.
He says, "I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured,
and ye are entered into their labours." The disciples were harvesters; others had already
sowed the seed. Jesus was sowing the seed of the Gospel in His ministry. All of the Old
Testament prophets and writers had helped sow the seed in the hearts of Jewish people
to prepare them for the Messiah. John the Baptist had sowed the seed in the hearts of
the present generation. Now, Jesus wanted His disciples to go out and bring in the
harvest.
You may not be a disciple yet. You might not be a part of the harvest yet. But if you have
not accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you can be a part of the harvest today. If the
seed of the Gospel has been planted in your life, do not let it wither away. Accept Jesus
Christ into your heart, and you, like the Samaritan woman, can have eternal life welling
up inside you. Here is how to do that right now.
1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God's law. The Bible
says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and
sinneth not." Romans 3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of
God." In fact, I am the chief of sinners, so don't think that you're alone.
2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: "For the
wages of sin is death"
3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28:
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear
him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible says in Revelation
21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake
which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in
Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it
is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."
5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to
save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have
everlasting life."
6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible
states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved." "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please
pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I
have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my
sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and
rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life
today. Amen.
