Responsibilities: Prepare test samples: thorough cleaning; measure and calculate average thickness using
5 measured points method; create initiating defects using abrasive paper and a hydraulic Carver press;
assemble water tree development well cell; Perform dielectric spectroscopy on the samples tested
(before and after water treeing). Achievement: I designed and fabricated a fitting device used to align the

upper and lower electrode fitted over and under the sample. This device shortened the test sample cell
assembly time to a quarter of the initial time; Start and monitor water tree developing test. Achievement: I
designed and fabricated a dedicated signal amplifier that can withstand specific working conditions imposed
by the test and the testing platform; Measure water tree dimensions. Achievement: I created an Excel
Workbook that downscales the measured dimensions to real dimensions, calculates water tree volumes and
dielectric strength of the tested material; Determine Dielectric Strength of the tested material using electric
breakdown method. Achievement: I designed and fabricated a specialized electric breakdown cell that can
carry out the test, avoiding flashover phenomena, on thin plaque samples; Analyze and interpret obtained
results that characterize the tested material in order to provide sustained feedback to the client.

This paper studies the dielectric spectrum variations in respect to sample chemical structure and temperature.
These analysis were done using dielectric spectroscopy tests. The results served as experimental bases
to back a theoretical explanation for the dielectric behaviour of several nano-filler doped materials. In
the process of creating this paper I was responsible with material testing and partial data processing. The
interpretation and actual paper writing was done by Prof. Ciuprina and M. G. Barbuta.
AC Breakdown Strength and Dielectric Response of Water-treed Low Density Polyethylene

Results on AC breakdown strength and on dielectric behavior of water-treed plane samples of low density
polyethylene (LDPE) are presented in this paper. The results show a good correlation of the breakdown
strength decrease with the increase of water tree average length and relative volume. The dielectric spectra of
water-treed samples emphasize an increase of the sample permittivity with the water tree growth, as well as
three relaxation peaks in the loss tangent frequency variation obeying the Havriliak-Negami law.
