Advanced Relay
New Release: the advanced editor of test programs has a high and
Test Plan Editor
powerful number of instructions and operations; particularly,
macrocommands, loop instructions, tests and graphics.
It is possible to write complicated programs, for example those for
the test of distance relays. The user can also define some
subroutines to create macrocommands which involve a series of
operations: a certain number of subroutines is available with the
software; for example, the subroutine which executes the research
of a threshold value and the relative reset value with the gradient
method. Please refer to the on line help file for detailed description
of the program.

Upgrade for the DRTS 66 firmware release 1.16: maximum power
generation for 110 V supply voltage. IRIG B signal management.

New skin, more intuitive and user-friendly, released
Manual Control
The new version of the program has been released; the program is
fully compatible with the previous version of the Manual Control.
New features:
- interface simpler and user-friendy: it is now possible to show
and hide the panels with the tests and the results table, and
the graph panel; it possible to resize each panel to improve
readability. The user can now visualize in the same screen the
fault parameters, the graphs and the results table
- the program now makes a distinction between tests and
results: it is now possible to save separately the tests or the
tests plus the results generated. A single set of tests can
generate more than one results set than can be compared
with a previously created one (by using Test Identification it is
possible to distinguish the generated tests with different
colors). The user can repeat the tests overwriting the existing
results or creating a new Test ID to compare the new results
obtained
- the program can now create, open and manage
simultaneuosly more than one file
- the amplitude, rate of change, phase of all currents and
voltage values are grouped together to simplify the definition
of the test. The user can use the mouse wheel in order to
increase/decrease set values. In the Power Panel the user can
set and modify the value of active and reactive power,
keeping constant the value of voltage.
- Set and start: if the user clicks the START button the
program transfers to the instrument the set values and starts
immediately the generation of these values.
- in the Formula Editor the user can set a conditional formula in
order to define if the test is PASSED or FAILED
- it is possible to define personalized fields and formulas in
order to print and export them into TDMS program.
- the column layout of tests and results table can be fully
personalized
- the Measurements window can be keep opened and can be
used to calculate the Active, Reactive and Apparent Power
and the Positive, Inverse, Omopolar components.
- the Vectors window can be keep opened and can be used to
drag the vectors of currents and voltages to
increase/decrease amplitude and phase. Pressing the CTRL
key more than one vector can be moved at the same time

CBA1000's firmware: added the option "Full Wave" for analog input
(the program manages both negative and positive values of
voltage); the program reads second open times and flow times in
the case of Open-Close-Open test type; added "Slow Motion"
measures.
Now all measurements are listed in the same order as firmware
(both CBA1000 and CBA2000).
Graphical improvement: the trigger rappresents the start of timer;
events that come before it are negative time values; events that
follow it are with positive time values.
Graphical improvement: when the user zoom an area, the program
activates an horizontal scrollbar, so that you can watch all samples
like a film.
Added men voice Save All Files...: by choosing this option the
program saves all opened files (both Test Plan type and Results

Recompiled to maintain compatibility with the file Report xpro.rpt
where the new parameter lbltypePlSync has been added
CBAPro
Added digital travel transducers management; these inputs are
available only on the instrument CBA 2000 with the digital
transducers board installed. In the Analog Channels panel of the
Test Plan, now it is possible to choose digital travel transducer
option as addition input channels (the firmware version of the test
set must be 1.14 or above); the user can set the nominal breaker
stroke, the number of impulses per turn of the digital transducer and
the corresponding stroke (that can be different phase per phase); as
in the case of analog travel transducer, it is possible to enable datum
points and to calibrate the test set. When the user download the

results from the test set or from USB drive, the digital travel
transducers waveform are showed as usual.
Now the program can download and store header information (Plant
Name, Feeder, Breaker Model, Breaker Serial Number, Operator,

must be at least 2.16, for CBA2000 the firmware version must be at
least 1.14).
Import from third parties format function: now the program use only
one byte (instead of two) to interpretate the value of the digital
channels

The program is able to communicate with firmware version 1.12:
MTC, Pressure Transducers, Travel Transducers (calibration
functionality and different values for actual stroke), Full Wave in
Analog Channels, Static and Dynamic Resistance Test
Datum Points are now plotted on each transition in multiple
transition tests (Open-Close, Close-Open and Open-Close-Open).
Now you can define if the Datum Point is referred to Close Position
(default), Open Position or at Transition
Improvement of the communication between the PC and the test set
(USB port only)
Graphic plots: cursors T1 and T2 can be moved only over sample
points. The zoom function is now implemented with three buttons.
The first button initializes the zoom functionality; when pressed the
user can zoom a graphic area pressing the left button of the mouse
and then holding the mouse over the graphic area (like in Comtrade
program); the second button zooms the graphic area inside the two
cursors T1 and T2; the third button restores the graphic bounds.
A Test Plan created for CBA1000 instrument can be downloaded also
on CBA2000 test set
Now the currently opened Test Plan can be directly uploaded on the
test set

Added "Multiple Contacts Test"; if you select this kind of test, you
can register trip times of different contacts of the connected test set,
regardless of fault.
Operative steps:
1) Define or load the characterist of the protection relay
2) Select "Multiple Contacts Test" in the Advanced Function Panel
3) Click on the icon near the label of the contact name to enable one
or more contacts, changing its default status (from not operative to
normally open or normally close).
4) Click on the graph (like in "Click and Test" option). The test will
end when all enabled contacts trip.
5) Under the column named " T[s] " the program will report all the
trip times of the enabled contacts (if the trip time of a contact is
greater than Tmax the program writes "No Trip")
CBA
Fixed this bug: when the user download the result file from the test
set, then when closing the program and clicking "Cancel" button at
the question "Save results?" the application wrongly closes.

Program released.
This tool is a sequence editor that allows to build and run a
sequence defined by consecutive cycles or steps. It is useful to
search trip and reset thresholds, trip and reset times, control trip
contacts and auxiliary contacts, display the waveform created by the
cycles definition
When uploaded to the instrument, all the cycles of the defined
sequence will be executed step by step.
Each cycle is defined by the output values of currents and voltages,
the state of auxiliary contacts, by a condition for the timing start and
a condition for the timing stop of the cycle itself.
The user can define the condition of transition from one cycle to the
next one: this may take place after a fixed timeout time, a trigger
(trip or reset) condition of the main contacts of the connected
instrument or by pressing a button by the user himself.
In every cycle the user defines if the output condition is a Value
Injection, a Ramp or if the instrument must hold values of the
previous cycle.
For each cycle of value injection type the user defines amplitude,
phase, frequency values of currents and voltages.
For each cycle of ramp type the user defines initial value and rate of
change values for amplitude, phase and frequency of currents and
voltages.
The waveform viewer displays graphically the time signals of
voltages, currents, auxiliary contacts and main contacts and is useful
to study the reaction of the protection relay.

Now the program manages two different reports for the CBA results:
the standard one and the compact one. A new page is added to the
Preferences window to allow to decide which of the available reports
becomes the default for each report type. The list of reports is
defined in an external .ini file named Reports.ini
CBA
Now the program can connect to the new CBA2000 instrument. The
software automatically recognizes if the instrument connected is a
CBA1000 or CBA2000. Communication USB driver is the same.
Before creating a new testplan, the user must choose if the testplan
will be uploaded to a CBA1000 or a CBA2000 instrument.
The testplan editor allows now to manage up to twelve auxiliary
inputs (four for CBA1000) and up to three breakers and pressure or
travel transducers (only one for CBA1000).
The number of analogic channels is two (one for CBA1000).
Analogic channels, travel or pressure transducers can be enabled
simultaneously.
Results management (download and/or delete) is transparent to the
connected instrument. The results and waveform viewer form
supports the major number of analog and digital channels.
Added a new menu voice: import from Pen Drive. The user
downloads results from the instrument into a USB pen drive. If the
user presses this menu voice, the program opens a window that
shows a grid containing files loaded in the USB pen drive source.
These files can be loaded in the results and waveform viewer
window.

Now the program manages epg files that can be downloaded on
CBA2000 instrument

By means of a dedicated module, DRTS.6 instruments can expand

their testing capabilities by handling IEC61850 messages. One such
message coming from a device connected to the substation network
(such a relay) is also called Goose.
When the user presses the IEC 61850 button, the software opens
the Goose Explorer form. In this mask the user can activate Goose
exploration of the IEC61850 messages on the network; the software
will interpretate the goose packet read by the instrument. MAC
source address, MAC destination address, Goose univoque identifier,
Dataset univoque identifier associated to Goose and timestamp (date
and hour) of sending goose packet will be shown in a grid. When the
user selects goose describing row, the program will show in an other
grid the gooses details. Captured data can be saved in a database
file in Access format, that stores the result of a session of exploring
of the IEC61850 network.
