Terrorisms Aftermath in Relation to Nigerias Economic Relations

Abstract
Having unleashed another massive wave of violence from the infamous terrorist
group in Nigeria or as they call themselves Boko Haram, has been recently
attacking and bombing schools promoting their outcry against westernization.
With fear and chaos widespread in the country caused by the extremist cult which
is more than 10 years as of now, has already been having impact on the country
itself, and by extension, is hindering its economic well-being to expand. Akin to
the happenings in Nigeria, the state of Cameroon also experiences the same
repercussions from the extremist cult but even with the same case, neither of the
two states have made a move to address the issue hand in hand for the reason of
having intensified issues between them as well. This paper aims to resolve the
border dispute between Nigeria and Cameroon in order to battle the terror caused
by the extremist group Boko Haram and to make use of this issue to expand the
Nigerian Economy. A possible strategy to achieve this is to start a negotiation on
addressing the border dispute between them, and likewise build cooperation to
deter terrorism in their region. Notwithstanding the issue of both states, the
researcher believes that both countries will eventually concede to cooperate with
each other for, in relation to using game theory, battling terrorism will benefit
both parties not only in terms of political stability but also to maintain their
economic stability which is as of now in the course of improvement.
Problem Statement
Nigeria, just like any other country, aims to boost and maintain both economic and political
stability and in order to do that, Nigeria has to eliminate barriers that prevents them from doing
so. The mere presence of terrorism in Nigeria and with their dreadful activities that causes
chaos in region is already a reason why even with Nigeria having abundant of resources, it still
remains poor. In terms of battling terrorism as mentioned a while back, how can Nigeria benefit
more in its relation with Cameroon? With fixed agreements between the two states how will it
affect the Nigerian Economy?

Instead of addressing only the dispute between Nigeria and Cameroon, this paper also discusses
possible solutions on the issue on terrorism in both countries and promotes the union between
them in order to battle issues that became barriers for cooperation between them. With the use of
Cost-Benefit Analysis to ensure that Nigeria will have greater advantage and will benefit more in
addressing terrorism with the help of Cameroon.
