Abstract

Terrorism has plagued are society since the time society or ideologies have existed. The term terrorism is
actually relative in nature from pure definition alone violent activities with a political agenda. So it is
obvious that where the ruling organ ma call actions as terrorism others may seem resistance or even
freedom fighters, quite frankly it is a matter of pure perspective and the actions cannot be simply
condoned for the fact that the ruling organ does not like them or support there a lot of ways to look at it
and every facet paints a different picture. But what cannot be questioned is another term present in the
definition as well which is violence which in any case does cause harm to someone or the other. Moreover,
there is undoubtedly a human rights violation ranging from privacy to life. Human rights are violated when
a bus is burnt, mail accounts are hacked or a bomb goes off. The UN constantly works on improving rules
and protocols to improve security and counter terrorism.
A concrete endorsement by Member States of the need to make the protection of human rights an
integral part of the international fight against terrorism

Mr. Ben Emmerson

Human Rights Special Rapporteur

The flipside to all these actions towards counter-terrorism to protect human rights is the loss of the human
rights in order to enforce these very same actions. Lack of privacy, lack of authorization (required by
personal), lack of freedom to express, and moreover, a general feeling of the keen stare of the Big
Brother always watching is least to say unsettling.

Statement of Problem

To study Terrorism and its effects of human rights along with pros and cons of the actions taken to the
effect to curb it.
