1 INTRODUCTION
The Uplink Access Test (UAT) is required for all IPSTAR terminals. During this process, the
antenna has to be aligned to reach the minimum antenna pointing error for both transmiting and
receiving path. Then, the maximum transmiting power for the Block Up Converter (BUC) is
calibrated to seek the maximum dynamic range for the transmit link. After that, polarization of the
feed-horn needs to be adjusted to match with that of sent from satellite. At the end, all test
results will be submitted to the Uplink Access Test Quality Control (UATQC) process in order to
verify whether the quality of the installation is acceptable. Every process needs to be followed
carefully to affirm that the installation has been performed properly and equipment is ready for
IPSTAR service.
The IPSTAR Uplink Access Test (iUAT) is the updated version for the UAT program. The iUAT is
customized in order to be able to work with the requirement for the IPSTAR satellite. There are
several new features added in this version. The following items are highlighted features;
1. Automatic searching for the best TOLL frequency
2. On site best beam searching support
The user can specify exact location by entering the latitude and longitude of the
site. The program will select the best TOLL frequency automatically. For this
feature, the user has to specify the latitude and longitude in decimal format i.e.
100.8973
3. Supports UAT-QC
4. Automatic searching for the system profile

Some UTs might obtain current Rx level more than 100, IUAT will not proceed to the next step.
Rx signal strength saturated message [ERR-20] will be displayed as shown in Fig. 29.
To solve this problem, terminate IUAT by clicking OK , turn UT off and then add external Rx
attenuator between SAT Rx port of IDU and LNB as shown in Fig. 30. Then, turn UT back on again
and rerun IUAT

Once step 4 has completely passed, step 5 and 6 shall be continued accordingly. Please
follow highlight area of flow chart on Fig. 31 for Tx gain checking at step 6.
