Objectives of Society:
The primary objective of the Society
i.

To advance the science of acoustics by creating an organization that is responsive to the needs
of scientists and engineers concerned with acoustics problems all around the world.

ii.

To propagate Acoustics through symposiums and other activities.

iii.

To provides opportunities to its members to enhance their knowledge by exposing them to

special lectures organized time to time.

iv.

To publish research journal, the Journal of Acoustical Society of India (JASI) quarterly by the
Acoustical Society of India (ASI).Which includes refereed articles, technical notes, letters-tothe-editor, book review and announcements of general interest to readers.

v.

To build a network of national chapters and disseminate all information on Acoustics and ASI
activities.

Eligibility for Membership:

a.

Life Member: Candidates for admission as members should have a bachelors degree with 3 years of
experience in teaching/research in acoustics or be holding a responsible position in an industry. These
requisites may be relaxed at the discretion of the Council in exceptional cases.
b. Life Fellow:

i. Application must have been a Life Member of ASI for at latest five years as on date of
application.
ii. Application must have contributed significantly to the or to the field of Acoustics in general
over a considerable period of time.

iii. Applicant of Fellows and norms as mentioned above were ratified by GB.
c.

Institutional Benefactor: Any institution trust or foundation which contributes not less than Rs.

25000/- to the Society could be admitted as a institutional benefactor.
