APPLICATION FOR PROJECT REPORT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD

(HISTORY & NECESSITY)
The proposed road takes off from Km 106th of National Highway (NH 1A) SrinagarMuzaffarAbad Road at village Salam Abad.
The inhabitants of the area speak Gojjari/Pahari and are living in hilly habitations like
Gohalan. Uri is predominantly a hilly block and Gohalan is close to L.O.C (Line of
Control).This road has significance from security point of view.
At take off point of this road i.e Salam Abad a Tourists Reception Centre for trans L.O.C bus
passengers is functioning.The place is politically important after the start of the bus service
by the two countries.From this place i.e Salam Abad a habitation namely Gohalan having
a population of more than 1000 souls is yet to be connected with the rest of the country.
The construction of this road is in progress under Phase-III,stage 1 st for a length of
8.0Kms.In view of the total hilly terrain and maintaining of proper ruling gradient as per the
guidelines,it has elaborated the need of realigning the road.
In this way the DPR framed earlier is getting exhausted for a length of 5.70Kms only
instead of 8.0Kms envisaged in the D.P.R.
In order to connect the village Gohalan,additional length of 6.0Kms is needed..These 6.0
kms need to be constructed by way off Earth Work,Construction Of C.D Works and
Protection Walls and some catch water drains. Besides the Stage-2 of the whole scheme i.e
11.70Kms.

PROPOSAL/SPECIFICATIONS:
In view of the above facts it is proposed to construct the road for 11.70 Kms i.e all weather
road to connect village Gohalan.
The Road shows different characteristics at different stretches and hence the road has
been designed accordingly.
The proposals envisaged are based on the guidelines of I.R.C/P.M.G.S.Y and are precisely
elaborated and depicted on the detailed drawings appended herewith. However, the same
is briefly described as under.

The road shall be in cutting as per permissible gradient. Road width of 5.50mtr.
and carriageway of 3.00 mtr.shall be maintained in accordance with the
specifications of I.R.C SP 72

R.S.masonry Retaining walls and Breast walls have been proposed at various

curves on vulnerable sections of the road.

R.C.C Hume pipe Culverts shall be provided for minor drainage crossings at
various spots as per site requirement.

Stone Pitched Saucer shaped drain have been proposed on the inner side of the
road in hilly reaches.

The Pavement shall be constructed by way of


a) Preparation of sub grade.
b) 300MM G.S.B COURSE IN KM 1st TO KM 11.7th (Grade-I & Grade-II)
c): WBM Grade-III (75MM Thick)
d) 50 mm thick Compacted Bituminous Macadam.
e): 20 MM Thick O.G.P.C with Seal Coat incl.Preparation of Surface
f) Earthen Shoulders of approved material.
COST:
Based on the nature of work, material used and the specifications adopted as
above, the total financial implications is as under
a) Construction Cost = 892.32 Lac (Stage 2 for 11.7 Kms) and Rs 235.39 for stage
1st (8.0kms)
b) Maintenance Cost for Five Years = 36.24 Lac
The Cost has been arrived on the approved rate structure/PMGSY Guidelines
