SUBJECT:
Main Landing Gear hinge pins inspection and replacement in the frame of the EASA Airworthiness Directive
No. 2014-0074 dated 21 March 2014.

EASA Airworthiness Directive No. 2014-0074 was issued on March 21 , 2014 requesting the inspection and
replacement if needed of the Main Landing Gear (MLG) hinge pins as listed within Messier-Bugatti-Dowtys
(MBD) latest approved revision of Service Bulletins ref. 631-32-213/ 214/ 215/ 216 Rev. 1/ 219/ 220.
The compliance times of this Airworthiness Directive are as follows:

One year (i.e. before April 4 , 2015) for pins part number (P/N) D61000 only fitted on ATR 72 (refer
to Appendix 1),
Not later than the next overhaul or 9 years or 20 000 flight cycles which ever comes first for all ATR
72 pins other than P/N D61000 (refer to Appendix 1) and all ATR 42 hinge pins (refer to Appendix 2).

Given the short compliance time for the inspection of pins P/N D61000 and as to ensure operations
continuity by optimizing the pins retrofit policy, the purpose of this Service Letter is to get a cartography (see
bullets below) of all pins affected by the Airworthiness Directive No. 2014-0074 by the end of September
2014.
Therefore MBD kindly requests Operators impacted by the above referenced Airworthiness Directive to
provide by September 2014 the following information:

Quantity of pins concerned by the Airworthiness Directive,

Part number and serial number of affected pins,
Aircraft serial number and MLG leg/side brace part number and serial number on which affected pins
are fitted,
For pins listed in the latest approved revision of Service Bulletins ref. 631-32-213/ 214/ 215, entity
which performed the inspection as per the Airworthiness Directives No. 96-096-029(B) and 96-131064(B).
