1. INRODCUTION
Ethnic Village (in Andhra Pradesh) is a place for the craftsmen referring to the origin,
classification (or) belonging to or deriving from the cultural, religious, or linguistic traditions of
the people of Andhra Pradesh. Displaying characteristics, as in physical appearance, language, or
accent that can cause one to be identified by others.

The crafts of India are diverse, rich in history and religion. The craft of each state in India reflect
the influence of different empires. Throughout centuries, crafts have been embedded as a culture
and tradition within rural communities.

The crafts of India have been valued throughout time; their existence today proves the efforts put
into their preservation with rising economic and political issues in India, the craft sector is
struggling to uphold. Although an interest to retain the culture of crafts is seen in designers and
institutions.

3. BACKGROUND
The ethnicity is being washed out by the new technologies coming up. The culture of the
region has to be preserved, this is one step towards it and promoting its art and crafts
industry.

4. AIM
To promote art and crafts and preserve the ethnicity of the region.

5. JUSTIFICATION
In the present scenario, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana got separated. Before the partition
Shilparamam was the core for the artisans and craftsmen to display and sell their product To the
fact that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana got separated, Shilparamam came under the province of
Telangana, which made the craftsmen from Andhra Pradesh to travel all the way from one state
to another to display and sell their products and Andhra Pradesh being a single entity, it also
needs an arts and crafts village for itself. Many craftsmen are also homeless because of the fact
that the crafts industry is being taken over by new inventions. In such case of hustle, if an ethnic

village is made in the Andhra Pradesh it would solve the problems faced by the craftsmen and
Andhra Pradesh will also have its own place for he craftsmen to exhibit their works and have a
place to live in.

The place maybe developed as a part of tourist spots I the state that would in turn help in
generating certain revenue and also in addition of employment.

6. OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this project would be to share crafts information through
Workshops, gallery and exhibitions, provide innovative craft design classes through latest

technology and housing for the craftsmen.


Objective of this project will be to transgress from this trend into providing an apt
environment of healthy promotion of the crafts. The project at end will be a place of
amalgamation of various trade guilds distributed in the state and provide a platform for
creative learning for people interested in craft sector.

This will also act as a community center to promote tourism as there will be a collection
of the states cultural traits. The development functions are determined to satisfy three
different parts of community requirements. The first would be an employment / facility
center for village.

The second one would be the tourist related functions such as viewpoint and view decks,
and third one would be common for community and for tourists such as bank,
information center, etc.

7. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT


The project mainly comprises of a village / society for the craftsmen which includes exhibition
space, auditorium for special events and housing for the craftsmen.

This project will be limited to design of

9. SITE
Vijayawada The progressing city
The project is proposed at the Berm Park which is well located on the banks of River Krishna, on
land admeasuring 20 Acres (80937.12 SQM.), at Bhavanipuram in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

It is the second largest city in Andhra Pradesh with an area of 61.88 km2.

It is located on the banks of the Krishna River.

The history of Vijayawada is largely shaped by the British rule which is evident in the
cities infrastructure.

It is one of the commercial hubs of Andhra Pradesh.

A major project, the Prakasam Barrage and a railway bridge over the River Krishna that
connected Guntur City and its district.

It is the hub of transportation with one of the largest railway junction in India.

12. CONCLUSION
Traditional crafts, visual arts and other forms of traditional cultural expression are
Closely related to the identity, heritage and socio-cultural well-being of indigenous and local
Communities. Tradition referring to cultural expression generally were first created a long time
Ago, which have been transmitted from generation to generation and are regarded as pertaining
to a particular people or its territory.
Craft as such are a source of tradition which has been passed on from one generation to
The other. It is our duty to continue this generation of craft, a skill to be preserved and promote.
The Crafts Village tries to achieve this continuation of generation. It will space a space for craft
As well as craft people to house different craft in a single community. It will continue the culture
of craft and inspire people to be indigenous.
Modernization has crept into scene but it is also true, that forgetting our tradition and
Culture is like losing our identity. Both should go hand in hand - preserve and develop. Ethnic

Village is a modern achievement but the elements provided are traditional and based on culture
and society.
Thus the Ethnic Village has tried to achieve a communicable space for craft, craftsmen and
visitors.
