Why Masters in Petroleum Engineering?

After completing Bachelors in chemical engineering from Nirma institute of technology - India .
I have been working as a chemical engineer for last three years with profile of production of
Methanol from Natural Gas and also looking after other diversified chemical manufacturing
production units. But I have realized that the current level of knowledge is not sufficient to have
a successful career in this field. During my Bachelors, I submitted many research papers and
projects in India and as I was brought up in a well educated family, which also helped me to
maintain a consistent and excellent academic record.

There is a demand for good and qualified petroleum engineers not only in India but in the Middle
East as well. But there is lack of institutes or university which offers masters in petroleum
engineering to enhance my culinary knowledge and skills.
This intensive program provides student with practical experience and the solid theoretical
background. Having this masters degree would ensure better employment opportunities and a
successful career back at home as well as in the global level.

Why Canada:
I short-listed two institutes, one in Canada and other in United Kingdom. After consulting with
my instructors and checking course contents thoroughly, I am convinced that Canada is a better
option as it has developed a first-rate education system with high standards and global
recognition. It is considered peaceful, safe and orderly country.
Canadian culture is more diverse and vibrant. A size able French community makes Canada an
attractive place to learn French gastronomy. It is considered peaceful, safe and orderly country.
Being a country of immigrants from all over the World, different perspectives are respected and
learning together is encouraged.
Tuition fees and living expenses are also in favor of Canada when compared to other countries
with equally good education system.

Why University of Regina:

The University of Regina is one of Canada's finest Universities, offering education that provides
the knowledge and skills needed for success. It had received continuously good rankings in
Canada, also as I am interested in petroleum engineering and there are very few universities in
world offering this course at masters level. The facilities offered by the University will help me
to gain experience be it social, recreational or my personal development. This program brings
together participants from all over the world, so I would be in contact with diverse cultures and I
would also develop an international network. It would be very rewarding to share and exchange
thoughts and ideas with a group of people who are from different nationalities, cultural
orientations and schools of thought on one platform. After being a part of University of Regina I
am sure, I would grow into an enterprising and an outstanding graduate.

To sum it up, I would like to state that having quality education and ample exposure in the
chemical engineering field has built a solid foundation of the sector specific knowledge and
skills, however, now I wish to complement all this with focused and structured study of
petroleum engineering to launch a successful managerial career on a global level. Engineering
knowledge combined with all the necessary skills is vital to appreciate my net worth as a
thorough professional.
