"Archive of Anti-War Propaganda." Ministry of Homeland Security. Ministry of Homeland
Security, 2012. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source provided an archive of primary source
documents regarding anti-war propaganda. There was a photograph that said: "How can
they win our war When all they think about is getting married?" This photograph was
utilized within the traditions & customs page of my website.

Boston University. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This July 4, 1967, primary source photograph
shows demonstrators carrying signs calling for protection of homosexuals from
discrimination as they march in a picket line in front of Independence Hall in
Philadelphia. This photograph was utilized within my thesis page.

27 Aug. 2015. Presents a perspective on the status of the gay rights movement in the U.S.
Information that the current gay rights movement dates to the Stonewall incident of 1969,
as well as the Impact of the presidential election of Ronald Reagan on the movement.
This source gave an interesting perspective and overview of gay people to counter
mainstream indifference.
Bowers vs. Hardwick. U.S. Supreme Court. 30 June 1986. Infobase American History. Web. 31
Aug. 2015. This source provided a court case about a man committing the act of sodomy
in private. This brought up the political issue of an individual's constitutional right to
privacy. This was a lost case in gay rights, as the decision was ultimately, 5 - 4, with
Hardwick having to face the charges. Utilized document in court cases page of my
website.

"BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA V. DALE." Cornell University Law School. Cornell University
Law School, 28 June 2000. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source provided the document of
the court's opinion, and an official court syllabus document for the case, Boy Scouts of
America vs. Dale. This case had to deal with Dale being discharged from being a boy
scout due to him being gay. The verdict determined that they won't single Dale out, but
they would prohibit all men who are gay from joining the boy scouts. I utilized a
document within my court case page.
Cammermeyer vs. Aspin. U.S. District Court of Washington, D.C. 1 June 1994. Infobase
American History. Web. 31 Aug. 2015. This source provides a court case that is involved
with discrimination based upon Cammermeyer's sexuality. This was useful in seeing an
encounter within one's status as she was displaced from her duties in the national guard
because she was a lesbian. Utilized the document of this source on the court cases page.

Archives, 2015. Web. 27 Sept. 2015. This website provided information on the nowdisbanded Exodus International, and on a perspective of the gay marriage ruling. This
source provided insight on the impacts of the gay marriage ruling, and the encounters the
organization faced as a result of the exploration into gay equality. This website also
provided primary source images of anti-LGBT propaganda and "reparative therapy to
cure homosexuality" propaganda.

and Manuscripts, 1993. Web. 28 Aug. 2015. Records and documents of Craig Rodwell.
Insightful in learning more about his exploration and activism within gay rights. Also
gave information about Rodwell's background and personal life.

31 Aug. 1998. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source provided a primary source interview with
Harry Hay, one of the founders of the Mattachine Society. Throughout the interview,
Harry Hay talks about the Mattachine Society in how it came to be, and just general
questions to him about homosexuality. I utilized a quote from Harry Hay in the
Mattachine Society page of my website.
Cusac, Anne-Marie. "The Promise of Stonewall." Progressive 63.8 (1999): n. pag. EBSCOhost.
Web. 26 Aug. 2015. Eyewitness account of the author revisiting the small bar, Stonewall,
thirty years after the famous riot broke out, an instrumental event that led to the
Homophile Movement. This account provides an insightful perspective on the influential
event that led to the creation of the movement. Utilized various quotes from this text into
my website.
"CVMC Image Gallery: Welcome Home Bobby." CVMC.net. N.p., 1986. Web. 17 Nov. 2015.
This source contained a gallery of pictures shot of the movie, "Welcome Home, Bobby."
This CBS movie was one of the first movies to have the protagonist as a homosexual who
is trying to "come out." Utilized a picture from this source to incorporate within the gays
in the media webpage in my website.
Farah, Joseph. "Liberation From Homosexuality." Atom. The Forerunner, 1 Apr. 1988. Web. 01
Sept. 2015. This source is useful in providing information about religious and social
encounters that occurred after the exploration into gay equality had taken place, and
learning about organizations such as Exodus International that started things such as:
"Pray the Gay Away." This delved deeply into gays within the media and quotes were
utilized on that page of my website.

pride marches. Gave me insight on how many of the gay activists took part in the march,
as well as their strategies in drawing in people to participate in the event. Posters were

Aug. 2015. This source is about Catholic churches and dealing with how they're taking
the explosion of gay culture and ideas into the community. This article is somewhat
biased in a way that it makes what the churches are doing seem to be good and accepting
of gays. However, it does discuss skepticism from DignityUSA members.

shown was of the political gay rights activist, Harvey Milk, leading a parade of
supporters behind him. This photograph was incorporated within my website on my
webpage about political activism.
"Harvey Milk Speeches." Voices of Democracy. Voices of Democracy, 24 June 1977. Web. 17
Nov. 2015. This source includes the political activist and San Francisco governor, Harvey
Milk's Speeches. Within my website I utilized a video with one of Harvey Milk's speech
and I quoted another speech of Milk's known as the "Hope Speech" within my political
activism webpage.

2015. This photograph provided information about previous traditions and customs
before the gay rights movement such that homosexuality was considered a disease that is
curable. This photograph was incorporated within the website on the webpage about
traditions and customs.
"Idaho Statutes." State of Idaho USA Legislature. State of Idaho USA Legislature, 1962. Web. 30
Mar. 2016. This source has information on different types of statutes that existed in Idaho
during this time period, and I used this source to get the document of "Title 18" that states
the punishment for having committed sexual acts such as sodomy.
Lawrence vs. Texas. Supreme Court of the US. 26 June 2003. Law.cornell.edu. Legal
Information Institute, 26 June 2003. Web. 7 Sept. 2015. This source was useful in
showing a case that overturned the ruling of the Bowers vs. Hardwick case. This was a
significant win in the gay rights movement, as the act of sodomy in private will be
considered a right to gay couple and without any intervention by the government. The
document was used within my court case page on my website.
"Library Receives Papers of Charles Strouse." Library of Congress. Library of Congress, 1970.
Web. 17 Nov. 2015. This was an article about an actor from the television series called
"All in the Family." This "All in the Family" series was one of the first that had someone
close to being a main character that was a homosexual. I utilized this picture within my
website on the gays in the media webpage.

Disband." New York Times. New York Times, 20 June 2013. Web. 3 Sept. 2015. This
source was useful in learning more information about the Exodus International and their
"pray the gay away" program. Provided information on religious encounters that occurred
as a result of the exploration into gay equality.

the Mattachine society of New York, regarding activism and censorship. This gave
accounts and photographs on the Mattachine Society. I utilized some photos and
documents that were on this source to incorporate within my website.
Newcomb, Alyssa. "Exodus International: 'Gay Cure' Group Leader Shutting Down Ministry
After Change of Heart." AbcNews. AbcNews, 20 June 2013. Web. 17 Nov. 2015. This
source provided information on the anti-gay organization, Exodus International. This
discussed the incentive of Exodus International as well as the program they started known
as "Pray the Gay Away." I utilized a photo of a billboard, a stack of books, and a poster
of the "Pray the Gay Away" sign within my website on the webpage about the anti-gay
movement.
"Obergefell vs. Hodges." Illinois Institute of Technology - College of Law. Illinois Institute of
Technology - College of Law, 25 June 2015. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source included
documentation of what each of the judges said during the Obergefell vs. Hodges case and
the official court document. I utilized this source to get the opinions and thoughts of the
judges who supported and opposed the legalization of gay marriage. Also, I used the
pictures and quotes of some judges to implement on the change over time page of my
website.

change in the gay rights movement. This case, Obergefell vs. Hodges was the court case
that allowed gay couples in all 50 states across the United States to marry. This was a
huge leap in the gay rights movement as now gay and lesbian couples had the
fundamental right to marry.
Pampanin, Mark. "The GBF: What's Wrong with the Commodification of Gay Men." TedTalks.
TedTalks, 19 June 2013. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source was a video of Mark Pampanin,
a debate champion, talking about the commodification of gay men within society. As a
gay man himself, he experienced the commodification and being treated almost as an
accessory based on the way girls treat him. He also discusses viable solutions to the
problem. I utilized a quote from him within the change over time page of my website.
Perez, Adam. "Stonewall Bartender Remembers Life Before and After the Riots." Time. Time
Magazine, 26 June 2015. Web. 17 Nov. 2015. This source included an interview with
Tree Sequoia, who was a bartender at the time when the Stonewall Riots broke out.
Within this source there is also a gallery of photographs for Stonewall and other events
within the gay rights movement. Utilized photos and a part of the interview within my
website.

Robinson, Kathryn. "Momentous: Millions Take Part in Pride Parade Across U.S." NBC News.
NBC News, 28 June 2015. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source showed a gay pride parade
and celebration that occurred a few days after the verdict of the Obergefell vs. Hodges
case. This showed the celebration of the people and how excited we are that we were able
to witness this historical landmark. I utilized photographs of the parade within the
conclusion page of my website.
"Romer v. Evans 517 U.S. 620 (1996)." US Supreme Court. US Supreme Court, 20 May 1996.
Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source provided the document of opinions and the official
document for the court case, Romer vs. Evans. This Romer vs. Evans case resulted in a
win for those opposing gay rights as the verdict allowed for the discrimination of gays in
Colorado. I utilized a document in the court cases page of my website.
"Sex Laws of the 48 States." '48 the Magazine of the Year Feb. 1948: 1-7. University of
Wisconsin Press. University of Wisconsin Press, 2012. Web. 30 Mar. 2016. This source
had to deal with certain sex laws during the period before the exploration into the gay
rights movement. I used this source to learn about sodomy and I used some of what the
magazine article said pertaining to how much a crime sodomy was throughout that time.
The Gay Plague: Homosexuality and Disease. Dallas: Alert Citizens of Texas, n.d. Print. This
pamphlet was created by the Alert Citizens of Texas, and it showed signs of homophobia
within society, and how being a homosexual can be comparable to a disease. The front of
the cover was utilized within my webpage about traditions and customs.

The Lavender Scare. 1961. EBSCOhost. Web. 16 Nov. 2015. This source provided a compilation
of primary source photographs of the Lavender Scare. Each photograph was of a small
snippet of the headlines for newspapers to display the homophobia that was apparent
throughout the government and society. These photos were incorporated within my
website on the webpage about the Lavender Scare.

The store provided a communal gathering place, helping to advance gay pride and
political activism. This source is valuable in learning one of the contributions Craig

same-sex marriage ruling. This hashtag showed how instrumental this ruling has been in
the United States, and the significance of this win for gay rights activists. Also, it
discussed different celebrities and political figures (Barack Obama) who supported the
verdict.

"GBF." TV Tropes. TV Tropes, 2013. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This website provides information
and an overview on the movie known as the "GBF." This movie follows the protagonist
who gets outed in front of the school, and a bunch of girls compete to have him as their
GBF. I utilized a quote towards the end of the movie when he gives his acceptance
speech as prom king.

This article had real-life girls who have experienced this trend and support it. I utilized a
picture of this source and quote within the change over time page of my website.

James, Susan D. "Lavender Scare: U.S. Fired 5,000 Gays in 1953 'Witch Hunt'" Abc News. Abc
News, 5 Mar. 2012. Web. 27 Sept. 2015. This website provided a video and transcript for
the video on information regarding the "Lavender Scare," and talking about the
persecution of gays as well as the comparison to the "witch hunting." This provided
information on influential events leading up to the exploration. Used photographs of Joan
Cassidy and Josh Howard in the Lavender Scare page, and also included a clip of the
video.

gay rights movement. This source provided information on Craig Rodwell in regards to

source was useful in learning about an organization, Lambda Legal that was formed as a
result of the exploration into gay equality. Provided insightful knowledge on the history
of the organization, including a timeline of the events. Gave knowledge on some
prejudice during the period it was created. Used a picture and quote of Bill Thom, the
founder, within the court cases page.

provided some songs that were considered LGBT anthems, and gave a brief description
about the song and the artists who created it. This source was used to get the lyrics of
"Same Love" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as well as a photograph showing Ryan
Lewis supporting gay rights.

were the individuals who started the Stonewall Riots. From this source, I quoted David
Carter, author of Stonewall, as Jackie Hormona and Marsha Johnson were the ones who
began the Stonewall Riots. There were a few photographs of Jackie Hormona and a ton of
photographs of Marsha Johnson, and some were used within my Stonewall and political
activism page of my website.

overview of what it is to be gay and talked about homosexuality in terms of it being
normal. I utilized the image of the LGBT flag within my website as the logo at the top of
each webpage.

source provided a biased perspective that homosexuals provide a danger to society. This
article utilizes documents, statistics, crime rates, and such to show why homosexuals
should not be accepted within society. I utilized a picture saying "Homosexuals Endanger
Children!" within my traditions & customs page of my website.

College, 05 June 2015. Web. 17 Nov. 2015. This source provided information on a brief
overview of the gay rights movement, and discussed the Christopher Street Liberation
parade organized by Craig Rodwell. There is a primary source photograph of the
Christopher Street Liberation parade, and is incorporated onto the thesis and conclusion
webpage on my website.

2014. Web. 27 Mar. 2016. This source provided an overview of gay activism, particularly
in the media, during the 1970s. This source talked about the first television series and
films to show homosexuals in a positive light. I utilized press releases as well as a clip of
the program, "Outreach: Lesbians and Gay Men" within my website, which was a
program that showed people how gay men and lesbians feel, to show them their
perspective.

provided an overview on information regarding the gay rights movement in the United
States and as to the causes and impacts of it. This source was useful in learning
information on the changes, influential events, as well as the exploration taking place in
the topic.

website discusses an exhibit about the gay rights movement. The exhibit is featured in the
National Constitution Center and includes information and pictures of gay rights activists.
Utilized a photograph of the gay rights activist, Craig Rodwell, holding a sign that said
"gay is good." This photo was put on the encounters webpage of my website. Also, a
quote from Howard Dean was put on the religious encounter page of my website.

Mar. 2016. This source provided a discussion that supported the decision to take
homosexuality off of the disorders list. This article provides information as to how the
decision was not based solely on the political activism and pressure, but through
scientifically sound research. I utilized the document in the homosexuality: a disorder
page of the website.
"Stonewall Riots." Philadelphia Pride. Philadelphia Pride, 2012. Web. 5 Nov. 2015. This source
provided a brief overview of the Stonewall Riots, the event that initiated the gay rights
movement. There is a primary source photo within this website with people holding a
banner saying: "Stonewall Means Fight Back! Smash Gay Oppression!" This photograph
was utilized within the background of my website on each webpage.

"Stonewall Uprising." PBS.org. PBS, 2013. Web. 16 Nov. 2015. This source provided a
documentary on the Stonewall Riots and discussed issues within the gay rights
movement, such as the Mattachine society. There is a gallery of primary source
photographs on the Stonewall riots and the Mattachine society and a few of these
photographs are utilized within the website. Also, I used quotes from some individuals
who were interviewed who were at Stonewall at the time, and a poster and quote for the
"educational" film, "Boys Beware."
"Taking God at His Word: The Bible and Homosexuality." The NALT Christians Project RSS.
NALT Christians Project, 23 July 2013. Web. 27 Sept. 2015. This website is about
religion and homosexuality. This talks about how things that were stated in the Bible and
how that has established traditional values that go against homosexuality. This source
was useful in learning about information regarding religion and traditional values as to
why homosexuality was considered a sin.

This source provided information on the exploration, on the political encounters of

2011. Web. 17 Nov. 2015. This source provided an overview of the events of the day of
the Stonewall Riots. I utilized this source within my website by using the photographs of
the Stonewall Inns back then, as well as the acts of protests to include on my webpage
about the Stonewall Riots.

Heresies." Ambassadors & Bridge Builders International. Ambassadors & Bridge

perspective that showed dissent towards the church and the way that they initially thought
of homosexuals, but applauds their efforts to change. Oddly, to make a point at how some
churches are still homophobic and was homophobic, this source contained many of the
anti-LGBT propaganda. I utilized these photos in the anti-gay movement page of my
website.

Web. 7 Sept. 2015. This source was useful in learning about the works and literature from
the lgbt community. Talks about how through technological innovations, gaining
publicity towards the lgbt community changed. This was a book review on: "Gay Press,
Gay Power: The Growth of LGBT Community Papers in America."

"What Is Dignity?" Dignityusa.org. DignityUSA, 2015. Web. 27 Sept. 2015. This website
provided information on the Gay Catholic Organization known as Dignity. Information
provided was based on what they do and what they are. This source was useful in
learning about their history and the encounters they faced as a result of the exploration
into gay equality, as well as the changes as a result. Also, I utilized many photos showing
Catholics supporting gay rights and protesting, and other propaganda within the churches
supporting page of my website.
