Put on then, as Gods chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against
another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so
you also must forgive. Colossians 3:12-13
Who in your church most frequently gets on your nerves or
sins against you? Maybe it is even someone in your home.
Think about how you are most likely to respond to their sin.
What ways might you be tempted to become frustrated, bitter,
or angry? Could it be that God is exposing, in your heart, one of
the greatest ways that you are not like Christ? Could it be that
God is teaching you to patiently endure? Could it be that God is
calling you to show them the gospel in your response?
This situation is not beyond hope. Restoration, reconciliation,
peace and joy in friendship are exactly the kind of thing that the
Gospel produces. As the Lord has forgiven you not only are
you commanded to forgive, but you have also been empowered to forgive. As Gods chosen ones, you can put on compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

On Canyon Elders Blog (at CanyonPrescott.org), read the

recap of the Shepherds Conference, and watch the 2
minute video clip from a sermon at the conference by Paul
Washer. After watching the video, ask yourself this: What
ways would God want me to deepen my appreciation for
Christ through the study of His Word? What practical steps
can I take to do this? If after this, you are looking for a
place to read more about Christ, turn to Colossians 1.

Paul writes to Timothy in 1 Tim 5:3-16 that the people of the

church should honor widows who are truly widows and
care for those who are truly widows. Without getting into
all the details of the passage, one thing is clear: as Christians, we are called to have a heart for widows. This is much
in line with Gods heart for widows throughout scripture
(Read Ex 22:22-24, Deut 10:18, 24:19-22, 27:19, Ps 68:5,
James 1:27). Widows can often be an easily overlooked
group of wonderful women who have been through great
difficulty. Their faith in the Lord through trials ought not to go
unnoticed, but instead should serve as an example to us all.
Do you know the widows of our church? What ways might
you be able to come alongside them as an encouragement
to them? Have you made time to spend with them? What
ways might you be able to benefit from their wisdom and
experience? What ways might you be able to honor and
care for them? How can you pray for them right now?

Tuesday

Thursday

Bible Reading: Mark 1:1-8; 1 Corinthians 1:1-17; Psalm 72; Joshua 1-2

Bible Reading: Mark 1:21-34; 1 Corinthians 2; Psalm 74; Joshua 6-7

Psalm 72 is a prayer for the King. This was prayed for Israels king at the time of its writing and for kings after that.
Pray through this passage for our government leaders.
Ultimately, pray this passage in light of our Lords coming
eternal reign.
