NYK safety policy for Shore terminal line-flushing operation
1 Line flushing is only permitted in following condition ;
Discharging work is thoroughly completed and the master confirmed all the cargo was discharged and no
remaining oil inside the cargo lines (including pump room) and all the slop tanks were drained/dried.
2 Flushing water must be supplied by segregated ballast tank thorough spool piece between cargo and ballast lines.
Flushing water supplied from sea chest is prohibited in any case under owner's safety regulation.
3 Spool piece connection work will start after completion of the line stripping including all the lines in pump room.
4. The ships attitude (trim, heel, draft, air draft) should be within the range of limits stipulated by the terminal
and Hull strength (BM/SF/FL) should be confirmed to be within the allowable range of values, during this
operation.
5. After line flushing, collect remaining water at a Slop tank and then disconnect ballast line from cargo line.
6. Protest shall be made related to the responsibility of shore line flushing work after entering port..

NYK Line Shore terminal line flushing clause


1) Laytime to be continuously counted without any deduction, such as shifting etc,
and is counted from completion of discharging until cargo hose disconnection after vessel completed line-flushing.
2) Any additional FOC/DOC related to line-flashing, not limited to line-flushing but also de-slopping work and
decantling work is to be charterers account.
3) Any extra time and cost incurred to de-slopping work at inbound bunker port as per charterers requirement is to be
thoroughly charterer's account and the time consumed is count as used laytime.
However, laytime is not count when de-slopping is done concurrently with bunkering operation.
4) Charterer guarantee to dispose the remaining water on the vessel as following methods.
Dispose the used water before arrival loading port at charterer's expense stipulated in 3) above.
Load on top operation and discharge the remained water with cargo at next disch. Port.
5) Master and owner are not responsible for insufficient flow rate and pressure required by the terminal.

6) Chartarere must prepare Letter of Indemnity (LOI ) to agree charterer are responsible for any incident(oil spilled
overboard , oil contamination to flushing water , oil contamination to ballast

tank, flushing water contaminated

to cargo etc ) resulted from this operation, unless same is caused by Master's fault and/or negligence.
LOI must be signed by charterers itself before commencement of this operation.
