Brochure
Description: Door opening design
Programs used: InDesign
Date: March 26, 2016
Course number and section: COMM 130, 08
Instructor name: Sister Nugent
Process: First I came up with the idea of what kind of brochure I wanted. Door opening idea seemed like a
fun way to show off my work. I then thought of a logo that I could cut in half so that both sides of the logo
would be equal to each other when you open it. I created the sword logo in Illustrator and then brought it
into InDesign for the brochure. I then came up with the workout idea and scanned the internet for Spartan
Race photos because I knew the kind of work outs that they do and how easy it would be for me to obtain
a wide variety of photos. I then made my measurements and typed all the necessary information. I then
chose one photo to manipulate in Photoshop so that I could do a text wrap on it in InDesign. I then printed
out my project and trimmed and cut out all unnecessary parts so that it would look exactly how I imagined
it.
Objective: To create a door opening style brochure that would lure in a target audience.

Montage
Description: A montage of three separate photos blended together to create one strong image. Also some
text to give the viewer some background of the purpose of the photos.
Programs used: Photoshop
Date: February 13, 2016
Course number and section: COMM 130, 08
Instructor name: Sister Nugent
Process: I first had to come up with an idea. I first had the character in mind then I had to search for
photos in relation to said character. I brought all three of them into Photoshop and began with the dragon
picture as my background. I then brought in the mug shot type photo and blended that in with the fire. I
then grabbed the man standing in front of the fire photo and blended that as well. At first the dragon was a
much darker and hard to see photo so I had to replace it with a color that stood out more so you could see
the details of what it actually is. And finally I added the text to give the viewer a real feel for the montage.
Objective: To create an image with other images and blend them together to have one coherent theme.

Photodesign

Description: To demonstrate good photography and image editing. Also how to incorporate a color scheme to
the photo.
Programs used: Photoshop
Date: February 6, 2016
Course number and section: COMM 130, 08
Instructor name: Sister Nugent
Process: I first began pondering on what color scheme I should choose and what can I photograph to match
that color scheme. I realized that I had clothes that would fit into a color scheme criteria. I lined up my clothes
and took several photos to decide which to use for my project. I narrowed down to the best photo and began
editing as soon as possible. Once I had my first draft completed I gathered some peers for critiquing. I learned
a lot from their perspectives in how I could improve what I had already done. I also submitted my first draft to
my professor and she was able to give another critique of what can do to enhance the pull my project would
have on others. I gathered all of my critique and began to work on the final part of my work. And I was able to
achieve everything that I desired.
Objective: To create an ad for a company using my own original photo.

Business Card

Description: This is a professionally made business card and letterhead for a marketing company called RED
ARROW MARKETING.
Programs used: Illustrator, InDesign
Date: February 27, 2016
Course number and section: COMM 130, 08
Instructor name: Sister Nugent
Process: I first created my logo in Adobe Illustrator and then brought it into Adobe InDesign. I created the
business card and letterhead and received several different reviews on how to improve my work. My initial
idea had a lot to do with the texture of the business card itself, but I realized that it was too difficult to incorporate that into the project so I kept my ideas to be very 2D. I then improved my work so that my business
card and letterhead were similar enough so that there is no confusion between the two.
Objective: To create a business card to go along with a stationary of my own design and creativity.

Logo

Description: A logo that creatively shows the name of a store and what they sell.
Programs used: Illustrator
Date: February 20, 2016
Course number and section: COMM 130, 08
Instructor name: Sister Nugent
Process: I first came up with the idea for what kind of store that I wanted to help advertise. I then decided on a name. I began sketching a few different ideas with completely different color schemes, text and
design. I asked a few artistic peers and non-artistic peers on which they preferred and they unanimously chose the same one. There were a few stragglers but I decided that the most popular one was the best
choice. I modified the popular choice and paired it off with a grey scale version and one with a color background. Mostly to give some variety in options.
Objective: To create an original logo for a fake company to practice my basic and simple skills in designing something for someone else.

Flier
Description: Promotional flier to help grab the attention of professional students looking to make a career
being in charge.
Programs used: Indesign
Date: January 23, 2016
Course number and section: COMM 130, 08
Instructor name: Sister Nugent
Process: I first began my process my sketching out a few concepts of what I wanted to do. I then did a rough
draft of the one I thought would bring in the most people and had some selected and random critiques to
examine my work. I made notes of their suggestions and commentary and finished my flier at what I consider
to be exactly what I wanted it to be.
Objective: Using someone elses photos and words to create a flier that would pull in a target audience.

immediately. Scanned the image and began working on the rest of the project. I choose the color scheme, added
