PSALM 150:1-6
1 Praise

the LORD! Praise God in his


sanctuary; praise him in his

mighty heaven! Praise him for his

unequaled greatness!

him with a blast of the


rams horn; praise him with the

lyre and harp! Praise him with
the tambourine and dancing;
praise him with strings and flutes!

that breathes sing praises to
the LORD! Praise the LORD!

PSALM 145:1-19

is the LORD! He is most


worthy of praise! No one can
measure his greatness.4 Let each

will meditate on your majestic,


glorious splendor and your wonderful
miracles.6 Your awe-inspiring deeds
will be on every tongue; I will

will share the story of


your wonderful goodness; they will
sing with joy about your

righteousness. The LORD is merciful
and compassionate, slow to get angry
and filled with unfailing love.

PSALM 145:9-11

LORD is good to everyone. He


showers compassion on all his creation.
10 All of your works will thank you, LORD,
and your faithful followers will praise
you. 11 They will speak of the glory of
your kingdom; they will give examples of
your power.

PSALM 145:12-14
12 They

will tell about your mighty deeds and


about the majesty and glory of your reign.
13 For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
You rule throughout all generations.
The LORD always keeps his promises; he is
gracious in all he does. 14 The LORD helps the
fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.

PSALM 145:15-17
15 The

eyes of all look to you in hope; you


give them their food as they need it.
16 When you open your hand, you satisfy
the hunger and thirst of every living
thing.17 The LORD is righteous in
everything he does; he is filled with
kindness.

PSALM 145:18-19
18 The

LORD is close to all who call


on him, yes, to all who call on him
in truth.19 He grants the desires of
those who fear him; he hears their
cries for help and rescues them.

PSALM 146:3-9

put your confidence in powerful


people; there is no help for you there.
4 When they breathe their last, they return to
the earth, and all their plans die with them.
5 But joyful are those who have the God of
Israel as their helper, whose hope is in
the LORD their God.

PSALM 146:6-7
6 He

made heaven and earth, the sea,


and everything in them. He keeps
every promise forever. 7 He gives
justice to the oppressed and food to
the hungry. The LORD frees the
prisoners.

PSALM 146:8-9
8 The

LORD opens the eyes of the blind.


The LORD lifts up those who are weighed
down. The LORD loves the godly.
9 The LORD protects the foreigners among
us. He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.

WHY PRAISE AND WORSHIP?

I. BECAUSE GOD COMMANDS IT.

God says let everything that has breath sing


praises to the Lord.
1. For His mighty works and His unequaled
greatness.
2. Praise Him with blast of rams horn, with the
lyre and harp, with tambourine and dancing,
with strings and flutes.

WHY PRAISE AND WORSHIP?

II. BECAUSE THE LORD IS MERCIFUL AND


COMPASSIONATE, SLOW TO GET ANGRY
AND FILLED WITH UNFAILING LOVE.

DESIRES OF THOSE WHO FEAR
HIM, HE HEARS THEIR CRIES FOR
HELP AND RESCUES THEM (V.19)

knowledge to lead them
properly, for who could possibly
govern this great people of
yours?

said to Solomon, Because your


greatest desire is to help your people, and
you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or
even the death of your enemies or a long
life, but rather you asked for wisdom and
knowledge to properly govern my people

2 CHRONICLES 1:12
12 I

will certainly give you the wisdom


and knowledge you requested.
But I will also give you wealth, riches,
and fame such as no other king has
had before you or will ever have in
the future!

WHY PRAISE AND WORSHIP?

V. BECAUSE THROUGH PRAISE AND


WORSHIP YOUR HOPE AND FULL
TRUST IN GOD WILL BE ESTABLISHED.
(PSALM 146:3-4)

A. Help from people is temporal and unstable


but help from God is lasting and complete.
