What is biogeochemical cycle?
Cycling of substances is a pathway by which is a chemical substance moves through biotic (biosphere) and abiotic (lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere)
Types Of biochemical Cycle?
Sedimentary cycle: these cycle involve the transportation of matter through the ground of water, that is to say from the lithosphere to the hydrosphere common example of cycle under the sedimentary category are: Phosphorus Cycle: is commonly found in water, soiln and sediments. Phosphorus cannot be found in the air in the gaseous state. This is because phosphorus is usually a liquid at standard temperature and pressures. Phophorus is mainly cycled through water, soil and sediments. However, very small particles in the atmosphere may contain phosphorus or its compound. Phosphorus is the slowest one of the sedimentary cycle. Sulphur cycle: sulphur natural form is a solid, and restricted to the sedimentary cycle in this
form. It is transported by the physical processes
like wind, erosion by water ,and geological events like volcanic erruption. However, in its compound such as sulphur dioxide, sulohuric acid, salts of sulphate, to the land and ocean through rainfall and rivers. Gaseous cycle: this is invove the transportation of matters through the atmosphere. Common example of gaseous cycle are: Carbon cycle: its absorb infarred radiation and hence that may contribute to global warming and climate change. Nitrogen cycle: the nitrogen is by far the most nutrient cycle for plant life Oxygen cycle: describe the movement of oxygen witin and between its three main reservoir (atmosphere, biosphere and lithosphere) the main driving factor of oxygen is the photosynthesis and because of this oxygen
and carbon cycle are usually linked and the two
cycle are collectively called oxygen-carbon cycle. Hydrological cycle (water cycle)
Ecological problem 1.
Pollution: Pollution of air,water amd
soil requires millions of year to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle are the number one pollutant. Heavy metals, nitrate and plastic are toxic responsible for pollution. While water pollution is caused by oil spill, acid rain, urban runoff ; soil pollution is majorily caused by industrial waste that deprives soil from essential nutrient.
2.
Global warming: climate change like
global warming is the result of human practices like emission of greenhouse gasses. Global warming leads to rising temperature of the ocean and the earths surface causing melting of polar ice caps, rise in sea levels and also unnatural patterns of precipitation such as flash floods, excessive snow or desertification.
3.
Overpopulation: The population of the
planet is reaching ussuntainable levels as it faces
