1.0
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND

AND

The Ali Hassan Mwinyi Foundation (AHMF) wishes to invite


application for Bachelors Degree Scholarship tenable at the
International University of Africa (IUA) in The Sudan from all suitable
Tanzanians. Studying in Sudan will offer the qualified candidates
exposure as well as an additional intellectual and social achievement
in the form of learning an international language. The degrees that
interested applicants may wish to apply are indicated in the table
below:

These are five years sciences programs and require a credit in


mathematics
All programs offered by the IUA have a duration of four (4) years with
the exception of sciences programs that have a five (5) years duration.
The University follows a semester system, where there are two (2)
semesters per year.

2.0

REQUIREMENTS

For an application to be considered, the following requirements have


to be met:

2.1 ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS


1) A pass in Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE)
'A' level.
2) At least seven (7) credit passes in Ordinary Certificate of
Secondary Education 'O' level. For those applying sciences
programs, of the seven credit passes in 'O' level, one should be
mathematics.
As the academic system in Sudan has no 'A' level structure, emphasis is being made
on 'O' level credit passes. The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has always
maintained the importance of undertaking 'A' level studies, and that is the reason why
it is a requirement that will be considered in the course of awarding the scholarships.

2.2

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

The Sudan is a State that is very keen about health and requires
applicants to have undertaken health screening to check for:

a) Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and


b) Hepatitis 'B'
Candidates who will be screened positive in either or both tests will
not be eligible for the award. Authorities in Sudan will undertake
health screening afresh once the awardees arrive in the country.
Applicants are thus strongly advised to take the health screening
exercise seriously. When submitting applications, candidates will be
required to submit evidence that they have undertaken health
screening as required.

2.3 OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Applicants will also be required to submit the following:


a) Curriculum Vitae (CV),
b) Birth Certificate,
c) A motivation statement, and

2.4 APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Scanned 'O' level certificate, 'A' level certificate, heath screen


certificate, birth certificate and IUA application form should be
submitted online. A soft copy of Curriculum Vitae (CV) and motivation
statement should also be submitted as Microsoft word documents.
The entire application pack should be submitted by email
to alihassanmwinyi85@gmail.com ahead
of
the
application
deadline. Once the application is submitted, a form will be sent to the
applicant to fill immediatelly.

3.0

THE NATURE OF AWARD

The IUA scholarship being awarded by the Government of The Sudan


will cover the following items:
a) University program fees (there will be a waiver),
b) Accommodation (while enrolled as a student),
c) Meals (while enrolled as a student), and
d) Medical expenditures (while enrolled as a student).
Costs below are anticipated to be borne by the awardees:
a) Air ticket,
b) Semester registration fees (estimated at $25 per semester), and
c) Out of pocket expenses.
