1. CHAIRPERSONS ADDRESS
1.1 The chairperson thanked and welcomed all teachers to the first meeting of English
Panel 2016.
1.2 She also thanked our Senior Assistant of Co-curriculum for his presence.
1.3 She hopes that all the teachers will give their cooperation and all the suggested
programmes will be carried out successfully.

2. SENIOR ASSISSTANT OF CO-CURRICULUM - EN. MUSTAPA KAMAL

2.1 He expressed his regards and urged the English teachers would always collaborate
and share ideas among each other.
2.2 He also hopes that the entire English panel programmes for the year 2016 are to be
carried out as planned and upgrade the English performance in school.

3. DISCUSSION
3.1 Yearly scheme of work

3.2 Yearly plans and activities

English Day is on every Thursday and the teacher in charge must teach pupils the

The panel has decided to carry out the English Month in May.
Morning and after school extra classes will be conducted by all Year 6 teachers on

3.3 PCG
3.3.1

Head of English Panel bought 3 Year 6 textbooks for English Panel which cost

RM 30.00.
The panel members have also decided to buy a laminator, laminating film, V-cam,
manila cards and some markers.

3.4 LINUS
3.4.1

Based on the achievement of Linus 2.0s English literacy last year, 14 (14%) year
1 pupils are still in K1-K2, 18 (18%) of them are in K3-K12, 26 (23.9%) year 2
pupils are in K3-K12, while 6 (6.5%) of the year 3 pupils are in K3-K12. As the

achievement is at average level, all level 1 teachers are reminded to work harder

and put more effort to improve the achievement this year.

The panel members were informed that the ministry had decided to continue the
Linus programme for the year 4 pupils who failed their second screening when
they were in year 3. The programme is known as the Support Group. The first
screening for the support group will be in June while the second screening will be

Mdm Ng Chai Lin also suggested that to the Linus teachers to have extra morning

classes from 7.10 till 7.45 a.m. for all the LINUS classes.
She also suggested that Phonics songs should be conducted by level 1 teachers on

Thursday as scheduled.
She also hopes that the level 1 teachers will do Vocabulary drilling on the roll
board. Teachers can write the target language on the roll board and drill the Linus

pupils before starting their lesson of the day.

Activity suggested by the Linus Facilitator is wrap the laminated letters with paper
layer by layer. Teacher asks pupils to pick and unwrap the paper and read the
alphabet. Then, they toss the set to their friends.

PBS/ KSSR
PS The report for the year 6 pupils should be done by end of August. Teachers
can submit or print out the report thrice a year ( Mac, June, August).
Teachers must key in the students achievement and data using PBS offline.

PENATARAN UPSR
The Head of Panel also carried out the in house training about the new format of
English Comprehension Paper (013) and also English Writing Paper (014). (see
appendix 3)

3.7 UPSR analysis for 2015

3.7.1

The Head of Panel also summarized the overall performance of year 6 pupils in

the 2015 UPSR examination which is 68% and the GPMP is 2.73.
Theres an increase in the overall performance and she took the golden
opportunity to thank the year 6 teachers for their effort and hardwork.

4. Other matters
4.1 Madam Ng Chai Lin informed the year 6 teachers that the year 6 lessons should
focus more on formatted writing.

5. Closing Speech
Closing speech was given by Head of English Panel and Senior Assistant of Cocurriculum. Being no other matters arising, the meeting was adjourned at 3.00pm.
