The best way to solve a conflict is to not let it happen. This may sound controversial, but
conflict prevention is indeed the best way not only to eliminate points of collision, but also
develop a mutually-beneficial point of view (or course of action) before the difference in
views grows into conflict. To prevent a conflict, you should take a conscious and proactive
position, seeking out areas of potential conflicts (Forbes). To do this, you will need to learn
the points of view your potential opponents share and the benefits of understanding people
around you. Time spent seeking out threatening tensions will help you avoid unnecessary
conflicteven if the conflict flares up, your preventive effort will most likely minimize it

The first and the most popular cause of lung cancer is smoking cigarettes. By numerous
estimates, smoking cigarettes causes approximately 86% of lung cancer cases, including
cases caused by passive exposure to smoke exhaled by other smokers. These chances even
increase if a person had started smoking tobacco at a young age. Passive smoking poses a
lesser threat, but is still dangerous it is known that passive smokers (who are usually
exposed to smoke at work or at home) have a 25% higher risk of lung cancer compared to
people who are not exposed to the smoke of cigarettes. Regular heavy exposure to
environmental tobacco smoke can increase the risk of lung cancer by 50% (CancerResearch
UK).

cities-in-worsening/
However, many of these problems can be solved with a little bit of planning. High population
density is the main reason that reduces the quality of life in cities. Although this is not exactly
avoidable, governments can reduce the migration to cities by making jobs available in smaller
towns as well. For example, environmental units can be set up in small towns and villages. If
these units employ the people living nearby they will not have to move into large cities.
Whats more, the fact that cities are home to a large number of people makes it possible for
civic bodies to collect more money from taxes etc. If these taxes are utilized properly civic
authorities can build better roads and flyovers that will ease the traffic congestion. And by
improving the quality of public health care, the government can ensure that all people get
medical attention when they need it.

Famous personalities such as actors, singers and athletes earn insane amounts of money. In
fact, celebrities are among the highest paid professionals all over world. While it might seem
unfair to some people, one cannot overlook the fact that celebrities also help generate jobs
and income. Major sporting events generate millions of dollars in advertising revenue. They
create jobs for people involved in catering and logistics. Cities that host these events attract
tourists from all over the world. In short, an international event such as Olympics or World
Cup Football has the power to boost a nations economy. The film sector, too, provides
employment to tens of thousands of people. It is also not uncommon for celebrities to make
generous donations to charities.

Life often requires people to participate in unpleasant situations. Being able to deal with daily
stresses, deadlines, loads of work, and personal flaws is an essential part of being human in
the modern world. Rather often, these unpleasant situations do not occur on their own, but
rather happen because of other peoples actions and words. Social interactions often imply
conflict. There is nothing bad about it; however, many people still tend to see conflicts as
something bothersome and difficult. Fortunately, there are ways to solve conflicts in
productive ways.
The best way to solve a conflict is to not let it happen. This may sound controversial,
but conflict prevention is indeed the best way not only to eliminate points of collision, but
also develop a mutually-beneficial point of view (or course of action) before the difference in
views grows into conflict. To prevent a conflict, you should take a conscious and proactive
position, seeking out areas of potential conflicts (Forbes). To do this, you will need to learn
the points of view your potential opponents share and the benefits of understanding people
around you. Time spent seeking out threatening tensions will help you avoid unnecessary
conflicteven if the conflict flares up, your preventive effort will most likely minimize it.
If the conflict has already arisen, one of the best strategies to resolve disagreements is
to treat the situation with humor. It does not mean, however, that you must ignore your
opponents arguments and make jokes about them; it means that you should sustain a friendly
atmosphere, saying serious and difficult-to-express things with a bit of humor. Humor will
help you discharge anger, reduce tension, reframe problems to make them look easier to
solve, and set your opponents mind to working on a problem with you, not against you. Just
remember that you should laugh with your opponent, not at them. This way, a conflict can
become an opportunity for establishing a greater connection and intimacy between you and
your opponent (HelpGuide).
However, if you are already engaged in a conflict and there is no obvious way out of
it, remember some rules that will help you minimize danger. One rule is that any physical or
verbal abuse is never acceptable, no matter how intense and personal a conflict gets. You
should also abstain from personal criticism (attacking psychological and/or physical features
of your opponent); ignoring the opponent altogether (so-called shutting down); nonverbal
hostility (such as eye-rolling), and making yourself a victim of your opponent (Huffington
Post). These are the conventional rules of engaging in a conflict; following them, you can
significantly contribute to the solution of a complicated situation.
As we can see, conflicts can be approached differently. If you perceive a conflict only
as a source of problems, it may be hard for you to solve; however, if you approach a conflict
with a sense of humor, and stick to certain psychological rules, you can minimize your
psychological losses, and even come to a beneficial result. And remember: the best way to
solve a conflict is to prevent it.
Among terminal diseases which humanity has not yet learned to treat, cancer is probably one
of the most feared illnesses. Unlike AIDS or other diseases widely spread in countries with
low standards of living, cancers geography is much wider, including both rich and poor
countries equally. Among the variety of different types of cancer, one of the most common is
lung cancer; the environment in which people live in the 21st century greatly contributes to
the development of this type of cancer.
The first and the most popular cause of lung cancer is smoking cigarettes. By
numerous estimates, smoking cigarettes causes approximately 86% of lung cancer cases,
including cases caused by passive exposure to smoke exhaled by other smokers. These
chances even increase if a person had started smoking tobacco at a young age. Passive
smoking poses a lesser threat, but is still dangerous it is known that passive smokers (who
are usually exposed to smoke at work or at home) have a 25% higher risk of lung cancer
compared to people who are not exposed to the smoke of cigarettes. Regular heavy exposure
to environmental tobacco smoke can increase the risk of lung cancer by 50%
(CancerResearch UK).
Genetics and lung diseases in ones genetics can also become significant risk factors
of lung cancer. For example, if a persons mother, father, sibling, aunt, uncle, or grandparent
has had lung cancer, the chances of this person developing lung cancer slightly increases. At
the same time, it has not been yet researched whether genes indeed increase cancer chances,
or they simply increase individuals susceptibility to this disease. As for lung diseases, some
of them are known to affect the chances of cancer development. In particular, among such
diseases are tuberculosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Other illnesses like
chronic bronchitis and emphysema can cause scarring in the lungs, which means the increase
of the amount of tissue in them and as it is known, cancer is an uncontrolled division of
cells, and the respective multiplication of tissues (Healthline).
As for other environmental factors, one of the most significant among them is the
exposure to asbestos fibers and similar materials. Usually, a person is exposed to these
silicate materials at the workplace: technical works such as thermal and acoustic insulation
involve the usage of asbestos. Nowadays, asbestos is limited or even prohibited from usage,
since it has been proven that asbestos materials can cause both lung cancer and mesothelioma
(cancer of the lungs pleura, as well as cancer of peritoneum a lining of the abdominal
cavity). Even non-smoking asbestos workers have a five times higher risk of developing lung
cancer; as for the smoking asbestos workers, their chances to get cancer are up to ninety-fold
greater than nonsmokers (MedicineNet.com).
As it can be seen, lung cancer does not develop on its own, but is triggered by a
number of factors. The first and foremost of them is smoking tobacco, both active and
passive. Exposure to asbestos materials also increases a persons chances to get lung cancer.
Also, genetics and past lung illnesses can lead to the development of this type of cancer. The
cure for lung cancer is not finalized, and remains an epidemic.
cleanliness. Unhygienic surroundings are the breeding ground for germs and cause many
health problems. Vehicular pollution affects the quality of air and leads to many respiratory
ailments. All of these affect the quality of life in cities.
The cost of living is also pretty high in metros. In large cities, it is hard to find decent
accommodation within ones budget. Consequently, people are forced to buy ridiculously
small homes for huge prices. Those who cannot afford to do so spend the whole of their lives
in rented apartments. Worse still, the law and order situation in many big cities is not
particularly good making them unsafe for visitors as well as those dwelling in those localities.
However, many of these problems can be solved with a little bit of planning. High
population density is the main reason that reduces the quality of life in cities. Although this is
not exactly avoidable, governments can reduce the migration to cities by making jobs
available in smaller towns as well. For example, environmental units can be set up in small
towns and villages. If these units employ the people living nearby they will not have to move
into large cities. Whats more, the fact that cities are home to a large number of people makes
it possible for civic bodies to collect more money from taxes etc. If these taxes are utilized
properly civic authorities can build better roads and flyovers that will ease the traffic
congestion. And by improving the quality of public health care, the government can ensure
that all people get medical attention when they need it.
In conclusion, poor planning and the centralization of jobs is the main reason that
reduces the quality of life in large cities. However, these problems are solvable to a great
extent. The governments just need to make a determined effort to decentralize the jobs.
