By
DIRECTOR GENERAL FOR CULTURE
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE THE REPUBLIC OF
INDONESIA
at the 3rd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue
Baku, Azebaijan, 18-19 May 2015

Exellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
First of all, allow me to express my most sincere appreciation to Ministry of
Culture and Tourism Azerbaijan for the excellent arrangements of the 3 rd
World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. Second of all I would like to express
good greetings to all Ministers, heads of Delegations and representatives of
the Ministries responsible for culture and tourism. We hope this forum will
deliver us to a great success for sharing culture, shared security as well as
building a peaceful world.
In this opportunity I would like to share Indonesian experiences about the
importance of culture in sustainable development. As we all understand
that one of the dimensions is value systems, ideas and norms, many
Indonesian believe that we are responsible to practices three balance
relationships, namely: relations with God, among human mankind, and with
the nature or environment. In these relations, human beings are not only
thinking and actions for themselves but also for the future. We do believe
that such values also exist on other countries.
Underlining the importance of culture for development, Indonesian
government with the support of UNESCO conducted World Cultural Forum
2013 with the theme the power of culture in sustainable development. The
forum underline that culture is a driver, enabler and enricher of sustainable
development.

In this opportunity I would like to share the result of the forum, namely the
Bali Promise that strongly recommended that the culture dimension of
development be explicitly integrated in all the Sustainable Development
Goals taking into consideration some aspects. Among of them are:
