FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical with IS0 8792 : 1986 Wire rope slings - Safety criteria
and inspection procedures for use issued by the International
Organization
for Standardization
( IS0 ), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation
of Wire Ropes
and Wire Products
Sectional Committee
( HMD 10 ) and approval
of the Heavy
Mechanical
Engineering
Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1989 as Guidelines
for use of wire rope slings. Consequent
upon the publication
of IS0 8792 : 1986, this standard
( including
its title ) has been revised
by adopting IS0 8792 : 1986 in toto to align its requirements
with international
practices.
