The Tangiers Blues Band with Danny Clinch played at The Stone Pony as part of the Asbury Park Music in Film Festival Sunday.
Zappa would later head downtown for the documentary about his father, Eat That Question: Frank Zappa
in His Own Words, at the House of Independents.
Also, the appearance of Bruce Springsteen on
screen in a seven-minute sneak peek of the Jersey
Shore surfing documentary, New Jerseys Endless
Stoke, Friday at the House of Independents was a surprise.
There was a collective ooh and ahh in the house,
said Adam Nelson of the House of Independents. To
see Bruce talk about surfing in Asbury Park and to see
the surfing history that charts through him, thats an
exceptional thing.
The festival, presented by the Asbury Park Press
and APP.com; Monmouth Medical Center, a Barnabas
Health facility; and the Asbury Park Music Foundation, presented full-length and short films about music

I think you are a hero and a role
model, a middle-school student
wrote, because you are brave enough
to speak to so many people about what
you went through.
Wechsler owns a stack of notes like this. Shes 78
years old, and they fuel her travels across New Jersey. Holocaust survivors are in high demand, especially approaching Yom HaShoah, the annual day of
remembrance. But there is another reason.
Theyre dying out, Wechsler said, before pausing to reconsider. Not they we.
Her story is powerful, and not just because of its
sheer human drama. Religious and ethnic groups
around the world continue to be persecuted, and
here at home, political fear-mongers want to close
our borders to them. Then there is scary rhetoric
like presidential candidate Ted Cruzs recent call on
U.S. law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim
