PROGRAM BACKGROUND
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the American government's
lead foreign assistance agency, provides a range of education training opportunities
for Indonesians. The breadth of U.S.-supported education programs is reflective of
the deep ties and close collaboration between the two nations, which was further
elevated by a long-term commitment of partnership by Presidents Obama and
Yudhoyono in 2010. As part of the Comprehensive Partnership, the two presidents
agreed that education would be the top priority.
