    In the present day world, Twiplomacy, #Tahrir, Digital Diplomacy 2.0, tweets and retweets, likes, pins etc are a no more novel ideas. The present era of internet freedom has turned the masses in to opinionated diplomats, where social media has become the eyes, ears and mouth of the modern day diplomat. As Social Media inherently fits in to the objectives of public diplomacy, it has provided the due momentum to the transition from communication to conversation and eventually to relational strategies in international relations. This paper intend to review prominent Digital Diplomacy Initiatives including but not limited to that of USA, UK, China, Sweden, Finland, UAE etc. Moreover, most popular leaders such as Barack Obama, Pope Francis and the emerging Nerendra Modi on twitter shall be examined to draw similarities in their internet behaviour, content, language, timing and relevance. There most retweeted messages, popular hashtag campaigns and their popularity drivers would be contextualized in terms of causes and consequences. This paper also aims to carry out an exploratory analysis of key Digital Diplomacy initiatives and campaigns on its ability to a) to shape a message quickly and adapt it as conditions change and b) to engage in dialogue. Amongst all speedy information, disinformation and misinformation – Trust has become the most precious commodity, as asserted in Mc Luhan popular aphorism on media ‘Message is Medium’ and digital diplomacy being construed to the new Trojan horse of US imperialism. Whereas ‘Short, straight, instant and direct’ is what characterises a tweet. This paper would mine the most popular tweets by the diplomats and validate their ex-post factual credibility and its underlying digital interventionism. Only one quarter of the responding governments (7 out of 25) have a dedicated social media strategy (Figure 2): Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile (see Box 1), Colombia, Korea and the Netherlands. Other well-known examples are of course the United States where social media is an integral part of the government strategy to “engage and connect” and the United Kingdom where social media are deeply embedded in the government’s digital strategy.5 Regarding the first variable (followership), the relatively small governments of Monaco and Andorra lead the comparison (Table 2 and Figure 5). Among OECD countries, the United Kingdom’s @Number10Gov comes first (and fifth globally) with a reach of 4.2% of the population. Reaching the equivalent of 3.5% of its domestic population, Chile’s @GobiernodeChile turns out to be the second most popular government Twitter account in the OECD (cf. Mickoleit, 2013). The governments of Ecuador, Costa Rica, Turkey, Montenegro and Venezuela complete the global top 10 by Twitter popularity. The United States’ @WhiteHouse has a reach of 1.6% of the domestic population and comes eleventh globally. Regarding the second popularity variable (re-diffusion of original content), the Spanish Monarch’s @CasaReal leads the global comparison (Table 3). Each of its original Twitter messages is replicated by an average of 782 other social media users, i.e. seen by the accumulated followership of these social media
