ATTENTION COMMUTERS, RESIDENTS, AND BUSINESSES IN THE VICINITY OF THE

SUNSET BL. BRIDGE


In preparation for the demolition and reconstruction of the Sunset Bridge, the contractor will
reconfigure traffic and place concrete barriers (k-rail) on the Sunset Bl. Bridge between Church Ln. and
Thurston St.

What: Sunset Bridge traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction. This configuration will
be in place for approximately 10 months.

When: In preparation for traffic configuration, the Contractor will be working on the Sunset Bridge
during day time and night time hours starting on May 3, 2010 through May 7, 2010. Traffic
reconfiguration work is anticipated to start at 9:00pm on Friday, May 7, 2010 through
6:00am on Monday, May 10, 2010.

Where: Sunset Bl. between Church Ln. and Thurston St.

What to expect:
• Sunset Bl. will be closed to thru traffic the night of Friday, May 7, 2010 and Saturday, May 8, 2010
for traffic reconfiguration.
• Traffic signals will be temporarily moved to accommodate the new traffic reconfiguration.
• Reconfiguration of lanes will be followed by the placement of k-rail.
• Ramp closures will be in effect for NB I-405 on-and-off ramps on Sunset Bl. and for the
eastbound Sunset Bl-SB I-405 on ramp when the Sunset Bridge is fully closed. Ramp closures will
be coordinated with Caltrans, ramp closures may start as early as 7:00 PM.
• Pedestrians will be rerouted to an area outside the construction zone.
• Traffic control officers will be on site to direct traffic.
• Detour: Westbound Sunset Bl. traffic will be detoured to Sepulveda Way, to northbound Sepulveda
Bl. to southbound Church Ln., back to westbound Sunset Bl.
Eastbound Sunset Bl. traffic will be detoured to northbound Church Ln. to southbound Sepulveda
Bl. to eastbound Sepulveda Way to continue eastbound on Sunset Bl. Note: During the full closure
of Sunset Bl., traffic will be allowed to make a left turn from Sepulveda Way to eastbound Sunset
Bl.
• Emergency access will be maintained on the bridge at all times.

Detour maps will be available at www.metro.net/405 prior to the related work activities starting.

Note: On May 7, 2010, a six-month closure for the LADWP – 29 Improvement Project will go into
effect on Church Ln. between Sunset Bl. and Kiel St. The City of Los Angeles Department of Water and
Power is coordinating their closure of Church Ln. with the I-405 Project. For more information about
