Vineyards
Stunning Views. Brilliant Wines.
Experience Sterling.
An Iconic Winery that Makes You Feel on Top of the World!
Sterling Vineyards is one of the most sought after destinations in
the world. With its stunning panoramic views, Greek architecture,
historic artifacts, award-winning wines and guaranteed good times,
Sterling Vineyards stands majestic above the town of Calistoga,
offering a top wine tasting experience like no other.
For starters, an aerial tram takes you 300 feet up the hill to the
winery. At the top, feast your eyes on the rugged Mayacamas and
Vaca mountain ranges that showcase both sides of the glorious Napa
Valley. With a delicious glass of Sterling Vineyards wine in your
hand, you will marvel at the views and their extraordinary Greek
architecture. Sterling Vineyards striking white building was inspired
from Mediterranean-style architecture off the island of Mykonos,
where Sterling founder Peter Newton often vacationed.
Newtons love for history can be seen in the winerys towers where
it houses eight bells from Londons Church of St. Dunstans-in-theEast, originally founded in the 10th century. These ancient bells
sound through the valley, tolling the Westminster Quarters chime on
the quarter hour.

Ask About
- Bennett Lane Balloon Packages - Proposal Package
Theres an old adage that two things can be equally true, brought to life in the
welcoming atmosphere at Bennett Lane. Napas friendliest tasting room is oft
repeated here as a descriptor, and yes, its corny, so that is truth number one. The
second truth, well, its the same as the first truth: here, youll discover one of the
warmest, gentlest respites in Wine Country.
Old fashioned thoughtful hospitality is brought back to life at Bennett Lane, just
far enough north of the town of Calistoga on Highway 128 to be in a wine tasting
world that seems far different than the tumult that sometimes defines down valley
when its busy.
Turn onto a long entry way to the winery, through majestic Italian Cypress, and
find vineyards on both sides sporting colorful mustard in spring time. Keep an eye
out: you might find visitors on bicycles, taking in the view. Bennett Lane is
appointment only, but well worth the extra effort (really, no effort at all). Theres a
touch of Italy in the color palate, and close observers will note not only the fountain
as you drive in, but classic Roman-style lion heads spouting water off the wall as you
walk beneath a wisteria laden trellis to the tasting room entrance.
Proprietors Randy and Lisa Lynch fell in love with wine in Italy, so its no surprise
that youll feel a bit of Tuscany here. The wines, in fact, are named after the second
century Roman Emperor Magnus Maximus, and youll find a set of ancient Roman
coins gracing a shadowbox in the tasting room. Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom,
graces the Chardonnay label. Bacchus you know who that frisky fellow is adorns
the Cabernet Sauvignon. Magnus Maximus is proudly displayed on the Maximus
Red and Maximus White Feasting wines, blends that will please the senses. And
wine club members have gotten to know Severus Alexander, the Roman Augustus
notably on the labels of winery exclusive wines.
Dont worry, there wont be a test.

daily (with advanced reservations
only) at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and
2:00 p.m. This experience is $40 per
person and includes a flight of five
Meadowcroft wines, each paired with
an artfully curated culinary bite.

Green Imprint
The Fritz family was forward thinking in 1979 when they decided
to build the winery in a way that used very little energy and water.
Constructed right into the mountain, the winery is naturally cooled to
refreshing temperatures ideal for winemaking.
Using a gravity-flow system for the winemaking process significantly
reduces energy use. The crush pad sits at the highest point with
fermenting tanks. Directly underneath is the barrel room, where wine is
stored and augmented before it makes its way into oak barrels to
complete its transformation inside the wine cave just beyond the barrel
room.
52
Take a Hike
Fritz showcases its grounds and scenic beauty by offering a
vineyard hike for visitors. Led by winery staff, the easy 1.5-mile hike
meanders through estate vineyards and provides an educational
experience about winemaking, sustainable farming and the land.
The tour includes time in the wine cave, which extends 300 feet
into the mountain, and a wine tasting. It lasts about two hours and
must be scheduled by appointment. The cost is $45 per person.
Destination Dinner
If youve ever dreamed of dining in a cave, join owners Clayton
and Natalia Fritz and Winemaker Brad Longton in a three-course
meal paired with Fritz wines inside the winerys cave. The winery
transforms the cave into an elegant dining room for a memorable
and scrumptious evening. The dinner is $125 per person.

Wente Vineyards
Livermore Valley, with its rich heritage and variety of wine
tasting experiences, should be a top destination that people
consider when planning their next wine country getaway. As the
countrys oldest, continuously operated, family-owned winery
and Californias First Family of Chardonnay, Wente Vineyards
would be a good place to start the journey. The winery, led by
fourth and fifth generation family members, has clearly proven
their leadership both in winegrowing and in being one of
Californias premier wine country destinations.
