This Chapter first introduces the relationship among the attached
manuals and illustrates how to use these manuals.

Chapter 1 gives the general idea of each manual. Although these manuals
focuses on different parts but they are related to each other. An
understanding of such relationship helps users for their better
understanding and usage of these manuals. The figure below shows the

Technical Manual

The recommended method for documentation usage in a project is:


1. Technical Manual gives technical understanding of the system. The
Technical Manual covers technical details.
2. Hardware Manual elaborates on the hardware structure and functions
of the whole system. It describes in detail the cabinets, chassis, cards,
cables and switches of the ZXDSL 9210/9203 system. This manual
server as basis for the hardware installation manual. During the

refer to the related chapters in this manual to ensure correct

Manuals
Examples to use maintenance, operational and command manual are
discussed below:

Maintenance Manual
Example: How to use maintenance manual if problems like user
disconnection and modem activation occur during daily operations.
1. Fault analysis and location refer to Chapter 2 ADSL line Fault in
Maintenance Manual for ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE Broadband
Universal Access System, and carry out fault analysis and location as
instructed in this section.
2. For the line disconnection, refer to Chapter 3 and find the solutions
regarding frequent line disconnections, the corresponding fault type is
ADSL line fault.
3. To improve the Line quality following are the two methods:
Software Methods:
i.

Decrease ADSL bandwidth.

ii. Change the line type from Fast only into Interleave.
Physical Methods:
i.

Improve internal lines quality, DF (Distribution Frame) jumpers and


external lines, and ensure the connectors are well in contact.

ii. Minimize the length of parallel cable used along the lead-in
telephone line, and use copper twisted pair if possible.
iii. Be sure to connect the splitter in front of all extensions when
telephones are connected to the subscriber end in parallel.

4. Precautions, during troubleshooting, refer to ADSL Service


Maintenance in ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE Broadband Universal Access
System Operation Manual for any parameter modification. Adjust the
parameters according to the line parameters and line characteristics
required for routine ADSL maintenance as stated in the chapter. See
ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE Broadband Universal Access System
Command Manual for how to use related commands and how to
configure related parameters.

Example: How to make in-band NMS configurations with the help of
related users documentation, especially the ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE
Broadband Universal Access System Operation Manual.
5. Refer to the related chapters in ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE Broadband
Universal Access System Man-machine Interface Manual for networking
conditions of the in-band NMS. The Man-machine Interface Manual
introduces in detail two networking methods for the ZXNM01
integrated NMS of the ZXDSL 9210 equipment, indicating that the
specific PVC on the uplink service interface acts as the in-band NMS.

Command Manual
Example: How to set the line configuration file of an ADSL port with the
aid of ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE Broadband Universal Access System
Command Manual after the ZXDSL 9210 equipment is put into operation.
Handling: This command is intended for you to work with the ZXDSL 9210
system ADSL port. Refer to Chapter ADSL and DSL-MPVC Mode
commands in ZXDSL 9210 (V5.0.0) ZTE Broadband Universal Access
System Command Manual (Volume II) and find out the related commands
such as a d s l a l a r m - p r o f i l e , a d s l l i n e c o d i n g , a d s l l i n e t y p e and
a d s l p r o f i l e . The related command instructions indicate that a d s l
p r o f i l e is used to set the line configuration file for an ADSL port.
