Objective Seeking a position as a K-6 Grade Elementary School Teacher, with an
emphasize on teaching English to South Koreans
Summary An overview of my teaching style, which if you want to label me, I am a
Deductive Teacher. Naturally, my preferred teaching style is one where
students are deducing, or figuring out for themselves (with my guidance) the
how's and why's of a language. Intentionally, I involve the students in a variety
of ways and let them make their own discoveries in my multiple intelligence-
integrated lessons. This teaching style allows the teacher to become a guide—
one who challenges students but allows the students to take responsibility for
their learning. Likewise, my teaching style is well suited for groups learning
English — particularly those who want to practice speaking and expressing
themselves in class.

Over viewing my educational philosophy, being the teacher, I am the captain of the ship, who wants only
the paramount for my students and expects their superlative effort in return, emphasizing, “Effort is the seed
to their success.” To create and implement my differentiated lesson plans that target diverse multiple
intelligences, I subscribe to four theorists: Howard Gardner, Jerome Bruner, Lev Vygotsky, and Spencer
Kagan. From Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory, I believe and apply it to my diverse classrooms
that are populated with audio, visual, linguistic, musical, logical, bodily kinesthetic, spatial, intrapersonal,
and interpersonal students who do learn differently. One of Jerome Bruner’s theories I have adapted is spiral
curriculum, where the teacher revisits the basic concepts repeatedly, building their background knowledge of
a subject throughout the year. Within Lev Vygotsky’s numerous suppositions, the one I believe rings truer
today and especially in the Asian and American culture is that society makes two sorts of contributions to the
child’s academic growth. First, children acquire much of their thinking (knowledge) from it, their culture.
Second, children acquire the processes or means of their thinking from the surrounding culture. Therefore,
culture provides the children with the means to, what to think and how to think. Lastly, from Spencer Kagan,
I construct lessons that are built on the concept that a heterogeneous small team activities, where everyone in
the group is accountable for the team’s success.
Earlier this summer, I was blessed to visit the Philippines for 16 magical days and was married there, too.
While there, I observed several values that appealed to me, like family, integrity and tradition that ring true
throughout Asia,
If hired, I will embrace the South Korean lifestyle and culture and be an open-minded team player, who is
flexible and adaptable to the always-unpredictable day in the life of a teacher.

3. Please describe how you would deal with a workplace dispute with another co-worker or supervisor.
Over the years of being employed, I have rarely encountered an issue with a supervisor or co-
worker, but the situation has arises, I have always tried to listen to the other person’s thoughts in a
private setting, not in the open, like a room full of students. After I listen to other party, I will calmly
speak my mind. Depending on the issue, a compromise or general concession by both parties is
usually the verdict.
4. Please describe some actions you could take if you began feeling homesick or lonely while in Korea.
Hopefully, I will have Internet access in my apartment, so my wife and I can do voice chats, emails,
and instant messages with our family, keeping them update with our progress is important to us.
5. Do you have any other plans for your time in Korea? (Further study, hobbies to pursue, places to
visit?)
Yes, while in South Korea, my wife and I want to visit certain attractions and I want o study some
