Writing Please answer the following questions.
Section
1. Please explain why you are the right type of person to teach overseas.
I am eager to embrace new cultures and am excited by the prospect of fully immersing myself in a
very different society. Furthermore I am confident, out-going and enjoy a challenge whilst being
affable and good natured. I can happily work with people of all ages.
2. Please explain what qualities you think are necessary to be a good teacher.
A good teacher should be patient, enthusiastic and encourage learning in a positive way. A good
teacher should also enjoy the opportunity to pass on their knowledge and be excited by watching their
students gain confidence and ability in their chosen subject.
3. Please describe how you would deal with a workplace dispute with another co-worker or
supervisor.
I believe the best way to deal with a work place dispute is with empathy and understanding. Most
disputes are the result of miscommunication or misunderstanding the other parties intentions: as such
remaining calm and discussing openly any issues is the most effective and rewarding way to deal with
disputes.
4. Please describe some actions you could take if you began feeling homesick or lonely while in
Korea.
I could take several steps if I began to feel homesick or lonely: firstly I would discuss my feelings
with my new Korean or foreign co-workers and friends, then phone home to be reassured by my
family and friends. Finally I would assess the positives factors of living and working in Korea and
remind myself that I moved to Korea for the new cultural experiences and that from past experience
any feelings of homesickness or loneliness would most likely be temporary.
5. Do you have any other plans for your time in Korea? (Further study, hobbies to pursue,
places to visit?)
I would like to spend any time off visiting the more remote parts of the South Korean countryside and
national parks, as well as keeping fit by training in one of the various martial arts practised in the
country.
