Dear Brother McCarron,

I am writing this letter to bring to your attention issues that are causing serious mistrust between
the membership and the international.
 
The members are beginning to wonder if you are part of the solution or part of the problem. 

1.  Pete Thommassen is the most hated and least respected  person in the DC. He worked side by
side with Mike Forde for 10 years and knew he was fucked up all the time and was just waiting
for him to fall. In fact he couldn’t wait because he was obsessed with being the KING someday. 

He never really worked as a carpenter. At a very young age he worked for the funds in
collections which was very corrupt at the time.

Next he became a business agent where he drove Frankie Melia (capo in the Columbo crime
family) around to shake down contractors.  He then became Fred Devine's protege and weaseled
his way to the top in the dock-builders.

As President of the DC and Trustee of the employee pension fund he authorized the opting out of 
pension fund money and putting the money in his annuity account while reducing the
participants pension credits because the fund was in trouble.

Last year he personally gave his son a $21,000 raise without the delegates approval, a violation
of the DC bylaws & UBC Constitution.

He has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of the members money to live a lavish lifestyle
JUST LIKE FREDDY DEVINE.

At the time of the take over, Pete as President of the DC, was making $240,000 a year. Now that
he is just a council rep. I am wondering if his salary has been adjusted accordingly.

After the last supervision the Unity Team including Pete undid many of the good changes you
put into place and now he is telling the reps to stick together, go along with the program and after
the International leaves we’ll get things back to the way were.  Need I say more, no one likes
him, no one trusts him and he’s unelectable.

2.  Maurice Leary is the second most  hated  person in the district council.  Attached is the guilty
plea agreement of John Stamberger, a 608 steward indicted with Mike Forde.

The agreement includes testifying in upcoming grand juries and trials.  Stamberger is a very
good friend of Maurice Leary. Stamberger worked many hours for free on a large construction
project at Learys house.

In exchange Leary instructed him on how to circumvent the out of work list to land select jobs
and in fact helped get Stamberger jobs a violation of the out of work list rules and the consent
decree for helping him with his house.
This has never been investigated by William Callahan the independent investigator. Stamberger
will tell this to a grand jury.

Also LaPoint concrete a union contractor  did tens of thousands of dollars worth of work for free. 
Actually it wasn’t free, it was extortion.

A grievance was filed against LaPoint  for $50,000 for using non-union workers on many union
projects.  This grievance was settled for $32,000 and the recipient of the money was Richard
LaPoint, the owner of LaPoint concrete, not out of work members. What a scam!!!! There is a
record of this at the DC and it was investigated by Frank Spencer and nothing was done.

The windows were also another scam Leary had going on, where did he get them and who
installed them. Also many DC employees work on his house while on the DC  payroll, Ed
McWilliams, Mike Murphy, Martin Devereaux, Ron Rawald, Anthony Ruggalo and many others.
As well as many Shop Stewards and members.

Leary has no records or any receipts for this work.  He needs to be put under oath by the
Independent Investigators and be questioned about this potential criminal activity. I would bet
my life he takes the fifth.  Brother McCarron I have seen this happen in other councils around the
country and those Reps. were either arrested or removed by you. 

3.  Martin Devereaux was arrested for taking bribes and was found not guilty on a “technicality”. 
The job was dirty and every member knows he took the money.  Now he can’t  get himself
elected because he is no good and the members know it.  Why is he still here?  

4.  O’Dwyer and Bernstien are incompetent and greedy attorneys.  They have over billed us and
covered many things up.  Brain O’Dwyer has gotten many friends and family members jobs in
the benefit funds.  In fact his nephew Dan Ryan is assistant director of the funds and in exchange
for that O’Dwyer made Stu Grabois son Andrew a partner in O’Dwyer and Bernstien.

5.  Friends and Family is a big question. All employees and vendors should sign an affidavit
disclosing all family and friends hired in the DC since they were hired as well as anyone who
helped them get their job. The worst  offenders are: Pete Thommassen(1456) Mike Kabolla
(1456) and his wife Coleen, Maria Sabater(Petes secretary), Brian O’Dwyer, Dan Mazziotta
(1456) and Stu GraBois.

Brother McCarron are you here to clean up or cover up the corruption. It’s been 8 months and
most of the bad guys are still here. Many think  you and Frank Spencer are either really stupid  or
really corrupt.

Personally I think it’s neither and you do plan to fix this place  but if things don’t start changing
soon what faith the members have in you will soon be gone.

The members need answers now or they will be at the convention in August  to get the answers
and let the delegates from around the country know how you screwed up NY.
