SUNDAY SCHOOL REPORT

Our last month of Sunday School is quickly approaching and it will

be a busy month for Peace Sunday School!
We begin May with the lesson Early Believers where we will learn
how to share our love of Jesus with our families, our church family,
and our global family. Early believers were great at sharing their
food, their clothes, their money, and their homes, which is not very
different from you and me! We will be making a list of places where
we can share. Please help us with this list if you can.
An Angel Frees Peter is our lesson for May 8th. We will be making
Mothers Day and Fathers Day gifts and singing in church. We hope
everyone is there to hear us share our music with you!
Our last lesson is The Holy Spirit. We will learn about God the
Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and how each has a different job:
God created and loves us, Jesus taught us how to love and forgive
others, and the Holy Spirit gives us energy to spread love and forgiveness everywhere we go!
On May 15th we will be celebrating Pentecost, the birthday of the
whole church all around the world, by serving cupcakes during the
coffee hour. Please join us!
We will end our year with a picnic in the park on May 22nd.
Anyone who wants to join us is welcome to attend. Please call Joyce
if you can help or want to join us so we have a head count. We will
have games and treats for all!
Its not too early to start thinking about Vacation Bible School. If you
want to help in anyway, give Joyce a call!

Peace Lutheran Church Council Meeting Minutes March 9, 2016 7:15 p.m.

Called to order by Chairman Tom Gardner at 7:10 p.m. Absent: Jennifer M., Charles J., Gwen R.
We Gather in Gods Name: Meeting held immediately after Lenten Worship
Kyries and Glorias: The council collectively shared their highs and lows from the past month.
{Weather, meaningful worship, new family members, Pastoral visits with church family very positive}
We celebrate our past, our history as Gods people: Secretary, Treasurers and Pastors report
given. Question re: the retained earnings area on the financials. Treasurer, Sandy K. will review
and advise. Noted that $406.00 was raised by the Youths Souper Bowl collection for the hunger
appeal. Monies will be sent to local food shelves. Pastor Don has visited both the Release time and
confirmation classes. Motion made by Leon and Second by Brenda to accept all reports as discussed. MC
We look to the future: Call committee update. Call committee will meet with Pastor Erdal on
Sunday 3/14/2016 at 4 p.m.
We offer up our concerns of the past (old business)
Audio Sound system: Mixer sent in to manufacturer, Backup in place. Repair in progress.
Thrivent Grant information sent out to congregation in last Newsletter on Spotlight page.
Pastors residence: per report working well
Drivers for the church bus: Encourage volunteers. Inspection for the lift may be pending.
Church Bells: discussed protocols
Pastor Dons vacation days: Tom G. will email them to council and ask Sandy to place on
calendar. Pastor Sarah Evenson from East and West Moe congregations will be on call/
cover in his absence.
Old Settlers celebration: Peace Church will be willing to do worship service on Sunday. Tom
G. to connect with celebration planning committee.
We offer up our concerns for the future (new business)
Email consensus had been obtained by council chairman to proceed with refurbishing the
pews. Funding is coming in for the project from specific support ministries: Mens Group
offered $900.00. Donations pending. {Estimated cost ~$1700.00} Goal is the work to be
completed prior to Easter Worship services.
Discussion on mission and vision statement: Goal and strategy of our church and how we get
to that goal during these changing times. Brenda volunteered to get copies of the present
constitution out to council. Completion of this is necessary for our profile for the synod.
Pastor Don wants the survey which he sent out to council members back shortly. He will compile the data and we will discuss at our next gathering.
Encouraged the use of social media to get announcements and regular updates out. Tom will
discuss with Sandy P.
Meeting adjourned with community prayer.

RELEASE TIME NEWS

The last day of Release Time for 2015-16 will be on Wednesday, May 18th when we will
celebrate with treats and a lesson on The Beatitudes. We have enjoyed our time with
WCA 5th and 6th Graders and hope we have gained a whole new group of friends!

CALL COMMITTEE NEWS

Our Ministry Site Profit has been submitted to the NW Minnesota
Synod and will now wait for them to give us names of prospective
applicants for a new Pastor for Peace Lutheran Church.
Thank you to all who send in their Congregational surveys they helped is a lot in filling out the MSP.
On Sunday, May 8th, we will be holding a brief Congregational meeting to share the results of the survey. This will give you all an opportunity to ask questions and give us
your opinions. Please plan on attending!

Immanuel Cemetery Annual Meeting, Sunday May 1, 2016 at 2pm at

Peace Lutheran Church. Bob Shervey, Secretary.
Peace Cemetery Association will hold their Annual Meeting on Sunday,
May 22, 2016 after church service. Doug Ostenson, President.
